Red tide toxins 
shut down
crabbing on west coast

A large ribbon of red tide algae stretching from California to Alaska is prematurely ending crabbing season in some parts of Washington.

The Point Roberts Arts and Music Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary August 1-2 with two days jam-packed with music, dance, art, food and fun.

Burn ban still on

Despite recent rain, restrictions on all open burning will continue until further notice. According to Point Roberts fire chief Christopher Carleton, the fuel moisture levels are low and danger of fire is still significant. 

Correction

The Point Roberts Taxpayers Association will meet for a combined August/September meeting at 7 p.m. on August 17. The Point Roberts Park and Recreation District will meet at 7 p.m. on August 10.
