Whidbey Telecom to expand service on the Point

Whidbey Telecom representatives attended the May 4 meeting of the Point Roberts Taxpayers Association to talk about the company's intention to improve and expand service to Point Roberts. Changes the company is considering include a premium voice package that bundles local and long-distance service and offering Whidbey TV on the Point. They also discussed plans to extend fiber optic cabling deeper in the community to improve internet performance. Read more in the June 2015 All Point Bulletin.
Open positions on all local taxing district boards

With the recent resignation of water district commissioner Bill Meursing, community members will have one more opportunity to serve on one of the local boards.

Point Roberts beaches 
closed to shellfish harvesting

Less than a week after reopening most of the county's beaches for shellfish harvesting, the Whatcom County Health Department closed all beaches to recreational shellfish harvesting north of Sandy Point, including Point Roberts.

FOPRL Used Book Sale and Collectible Book Table: Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, noon-3 p.m. Sunday, community center. All sorts of books for sale inside: fiction, non-fiction, children's books, cookbooks, craft books and VHS, DVDs and CDs. Volunteers are needed. To volunteer, contact Barb Wayland at 945-3012.
