CRTC issues orders shutting down pirate radio stations broadcasting from Washington state 


The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission has issued cease broadcasting orders to three radio stations broadcasting from Washington state into B.C. Radio India has been ordered to stop broadcasting by 11:59:59 p.m. November 13, 2014. Radio Punjab and Sher-E-Radio, the company who seeks to broadcast out of Point Roberts, have received similar instructions. See story
Calling all artists

The Point Roberts Fire Department is looking for artists to draw fall or winter pictures of Point Roberts, to be displayed on the department's vehicles. Photographers are also welcome to submit their photos for the contest. 

All drawings and photographs should include the artist's name and must be able to be scanned to approximately 8.5x11 inches. 

Ten to 12 drawings or photographs will be chosen. The deadline for submissions is Friday, November 28. If you are interested in participating, please contact fire chief Christopher Carleton at chief@wcfd5.com.

Republican winning streak confirmed

The dust has settled, the votes are counted and the results are largely unchanged: Republicans and incumbents won the day in the November 4 general election.

Winter Ride program helps students hit the slopes at Mt. Baker Ski Area 



It's time once again for local students to hop on the ski bus.

The Winter Ride program is now accepting applicants from middle and high school students looking to shred Mt. Baker this winter.
