Fundraising for fight against the towers continues

To celebrate winning round one of the ongoing fight against the towers, the coalition is sponsoring a party and fundraiser on Saturday, November 29, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Kiniski's Reef Tavern. There will be a towers update, music, raffles, 50/50, a jelly bean guess and more. The next step in the fight is to counter the appeal in front of the Whatcom County Council. The attorneys who filed the arguments that convinced the hearing examiner to find in the coalition's favor, are ready to continue to argue the case as it goes forward.

BBC Broadcasting Inc.
appeals hearing examiner's decision

BBC Broadcasting Inc. has appealed the Whatcom County Hearing Examiner's decision to deny their application to build a radio tower farm on the Point.

Filed on November 4 with Whatcom County Council, the appeal challenges the hearing examiner's October 30 decision to deny the application due to the applicant's inability to meet height restrictions in the Whatcom County zoning ordinance. The hearing examiner also granted a pre-hearing motion to dismiss filed by the Stop the Radio Towers Cross Border Coalition.

Point Roberts bucks the election trend

True to form, Point Roberts voted overwhelmingly Democratic, a result not reflected in the rest of the county, the state and the nation.

According to Whatcom County Elections data, for every legislative race the majority of Point Roberts votes were cast for the Democrat candidate. At this time, none of those are winning at the county level, though district-wide results show Suzan DelBene will hold on to her seat in U.S. Congress.
