The Whatcom County Fire Marshal's Office has lifted the burn ban starting this Saturday, September 27. All outdoor fires - recreational, land clearing and residential - will be allowed to resume with proper permit. All outdoor fires require a permit on Point Roberts.

Stop by Nielson's Building Center for residential permits and the fire hall for land clearing and recreational permits.

Whatcomics 2014: Teen artists, submit your drawings for publication in Whatcomics, a yearly book highlighting the talented teen artists in Whatcom County. Those accepted into the publication get a copy of the book and will have their art showcased at a Teen Art in December. Bring your artwork to any library by October 31 to be considered. Whatcom County Planning Commission Town Hall Meeting: Thursday, October 9, 6:30 p.m., Whatcom County Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham. The commission will discuss issues related to the comprehensive plan update and UGA review. The public is invited to submit written comments and/or attend this meeting to provide oral comments.
