NEXUS hours roll back, long lines return

NEXUS hours rolled back on September 1, with the trusted traveler lane again closing at 7 p.m. for both the U.S. and the Canadian ports at Point Roberts. Border agencies on both sides have said they will continue to monitor traffic levels to see if longer hours are warranted. Summer hours have been 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Seabright to raise funds to stop the radio towers

Seabright Farms will host a benefit concert and picnic to raise funds for the Cross Border Coalition to Stop the Radio Towers' legal battle to block a proposal to build an AM transmission facility at the corner of Tyee Drive and McKenzie Way. See story...

Allegiant cancels 
Hawaiian flights out of Bellingham

Allegiant Airlines recently announced that it will no longer offer direct flights to Hawaii out of Bellingham International Airport. 

The airline will still offer flights to Honolulu through Los Angeles and Las Vegas and seasonal flights out of other smaller airports on the west coast, but Bellingham has been dropped
 from the rotation indefinitely. See story...

Point Roberts Fishing Derby: Saturday, September 20. Deadline to sign up is 3 pm September 19. Register at the marina office or the fuel dock. Cash prizes in three age divisions as well as an overall prize of a one-day fishing charter in Cabo San Lucas. Hot dogs and prize giving begins at 4 pm.

 

Fight the Towers Legal Fund Benefit Concert:
Sunday, September 21, 1-5 p.m., Seabright Farms. Benefit picnic and concert. Hot dogs and hamburgers provided, beer and wine on sale. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Admission by donation to the Cross Border Coalition to Stop the Radio Towers. Info: notowers.webs.com.

 

Ocean in a Bottle: Tuesday, September 23, 3-4 p.m., Point Roberts Library. Kids will make an ocean in a bottle and build a boat. Info: 945-6545.
