NEXUS hours is making the rounds

 

A local resident's frustration with border lineups occurring after the U.S. NEXUS lane closes has apparently struck a nerve with other border crossers. An online and paper petition requesting that the NEXUS hours be extended to match the Canadian NEXUS times has received over 300 responses in under two days. 
 

Radio tower applicants 

given one-month deadline

 

Whatcom County has given BBC Broadcasting a month to provide additional information or their conditional use permit application will expire.

In a June 4 letter, county planner Suzanne Bosman gave the applicants until July 10 to submit information on the visual impact, impact on migratory birds and wetland impacts of their proposed radio tower
 

DSP biotoxin causes recreational shellfish closure for north Whatcom County beaches

 

Unsafe levels of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP) biotoxin have been detected in molluscan shellfish on beaches in northern Whatcom County. As a result, the Washington State Department of Health has closed recreational shellfish harvest on beaches from Point Whitehorn north to the Canadian border.
