students chosen for All-State Choir

Last weekend, Blaine High School sent four of its outstanding choral members, including Point Roberts resident Veronica Hughes, to join the Washington Music Educator's Association (WMEA) 2014 All State Choir.

Water district special meeting rescheduled

 
The Point Roberts Water District has rescheduled their special meeting to review a proposed rate increase. The meeting, originally scheduled for February 19, will be held at the water district office at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26.

The Friends of the Point Roberts Library continued on its fundraising juggernaut with an all-weekend book sale that brought in more than $1,000.

Representatives hope to appease concerned fisheries with revamped GMO legislation

 
Fish farms in Washington are still not happy with an updated bill that would require labeling of transgenic fish. Transgenic is a form of genetic engineering where the DNA is "spliced" to create more desirable traits.
 
Although the new bill only addresses labeling and not the production of these fish, the industry opposes it.

General contractors needed

Whatcom County Fire District 5 is looking for licensed, bonded and insured general contractors for kitchen, bathroom and window work.
