Rates expected to jump 8 percent
 
With another 8 percent hike in water rates on the horizon, the Point Roberts Water District is inviting the public to learn why, and share their opinions on the continuing rise in the cost of water.

PRCAC appoints new member

Holger Michelsen is the newest at-large member of the Point Roberts Community Advisory Committee. With approval from Whatcom County Executive Jack Louws, Michelsen officially took his spot on the committee February 11.


Fire marshal lifts 
Whatcom County burn ban
 
It's OK to burn again, as long as you promise to be careful. Due to the recent rain and increase in fuel moisture levels, the Whatcom County fire marshal lifted the restrictions on all open burning in unincorporated Whatcom County on February 10.

Library board of trustees vacancy
 
Whatcom County residents are encouraged to apply for a vacancy on the Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) Board of Trustees to fill a partial term that runs through December 31, 2014. The term begins immediately upon appointment.

A celebration of life memorial will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 2 p.m. in the Crystal Ballroom at The Leopold in Bellingham. His loved ones will celebrate his service to his country and his love for his family and share memories.
