Classical concert this Saturday

at Trinity Church to benefit new library 

 

  

On Saturday, October 19, Michael Munro on piano and Liam Hockley on clarinet will perform a classical music concert. Earlier this year they performed together at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at UBC.

  

Liam Hockley is a versatile clarinetist with a repertoire ranging from classical to experimental contemporary music, jazz and free improvisation. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet performance at the University of British Columbia. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Victoria Symphony and the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra.

 

Michael Munro began his studies in piano with Susan DeBurgh at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and he will receive his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia this November. Michael has also performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra.

 

Their scheduled program includes Brahms Sonata Opus 120 No. 2 in E flat major, Berg Vier Stucke Opus 5 for Piano and Clarinet, Berg Sonata Opus 1 and Brahms Sonata Opus 120 No. 1 in F minor and will be held this Saturday, October 19 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Community Lutheran Church. Admission is by donation and proceeds will benefit the new library building fund. 

   

Liquor control board adopts 

proposed rules for I-502 implementation

The Washington State Liquor Control Board adopted the final rules for Initiative 502 on October 16. These rules will serve as the basis for Washington's newly created recreational marijuana market and are the result of 10 months of research and public input. Thirty days after adoption the rules will become effective, on Saturday, November 16.
