Marijuana gets nod from Department of Justice

Legalized marijuana advocates can breathe a little easier - the federal government will not attempt to block Washington's legal pot laws. See story... 

But don't expect to legally buy pot in Point Roberts any time soon

 Just a few months before the application period to end, the state has issued long-awaited rules on the growing, processing and sale of marijuana. See story 

 

Dump prices going up

 

Effective October 1, dumping fees at the local transfer station will be increasing a penny a pound, from 13¢ to 14¢ a pound. Garbage pickup rates will remain the same, however.

 

Judges wanted!

 

Fire chief Chris Carleton is looking for two-three community members who did not paint a hydrant to join fire department members in judging the newly painted hydrants. If you would like to be considered, please forward an email of interest by Monday at chief@wcfd5.com.
