New board of directors for Friends of the Point Roberts Library

At their annual general meeting on April 13, the Friends of the Point Roberts Library elected a new board of directors for 2013. The new board is as follows: Barb Wayland (president), Louise Cassidy (treasurer), Heidi Baxter (secretary), Bill Liaskas (representative from the support committee), Judy Ross (representative from the fundraising committee), Mark Robbins (representative from parks and recreation) and Kris Lomedico (representative from the library system).

Linda Lael Miller gives romance writing workshop
Friends of the Point Roberts Library are hosting a writing workshop by New York Times bestselling romance author Linda Lael Miller on Saturday, April 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the community center. There is a suggested donation of $50 at the door. Linda will be signing books at the center from 4 to 4:30 p.m. - bring your own book. She will also be available to meet at a wine happy hour at Brewster's Fine Foods, 1379 Gulf Road from 5 to 6 p.m. There is a $10 suggested donation at the door for happy hour. All donations benefit the new Point Roberts Library. Join in for one or all events.

Friends of the Point Roberts Library Romance Writing Workshop: Saturday, April 20, 2-6 p.m., community center. New York Times best selling author Linda Lael Miller will teach writing skills. Whatcom County Fire District 5
Whatcom County Fire District 5 is looking for interested community members to be volunteer District Ambassadors. The Ambassador Program is being established to create an organization of interested supporters of WCFD5 to represent and support WCFD5 and its needs to the public and in other situations as needed by WCFD5. Members will be solicited from local homeowners' associations, businesses, and civic organizations that have an interest in the well-being of WCFD5. This is a volunteer position within the meaning of the FLSA. As such, individuals serving in this position do so for civic, charitable and/or humanitarian reasons, without promise, expectation or receipt of compensation for services rendered, as defined in the FLSA. Interviews for this position will be conducted in May with specific date to be set.
