Fiberfest knits community together

Fiberfest brought hours of learning and enjoyment to over 100 people who tried their hand at rug hooking, felting, weaving, sewing, crocheting and more. The March 16 event at the Gulf Road community center celebrated the variety of fiber artists in Point Roberts and also featured a raffle and silent auction that raised $2,500 for the new library. Above, Sophie Wolfman, center, runs the felter's table. To view more photos, see our slideshow

Purloined Daffodils

The Tyee Drive daffodils are bursting into bloom but some people are helping themselves to the community's show. Scott Hackleman, president of the Point Roberts Garden Club, which installed and maintains the plantings, said they have received reports of at least one individual "picking a large bouquet," and they would like to remind people, "It is definitely not ok to take daffodils from the Tyee plantings. They are meant for everyone's enjoyment."
