There was a lot of heat but not much in the way of action at the fire district's regular meeting on Wednesday night. It took close to two hours for commissioners Jeff Wilmot, left, and Bill Meursing to approve one agenda item, bills and payroll, while tabling nine other items. Stan Riffle, attending the meeting for the second month via a balky telephone connection, was a continuous source of acrimony as Meursing and Wilmot kept wondering if Riffle was "there."
