Seeking new parks commissioner

With the resignation of commissioner Rob Dean, the local parks district is looking for someone to fill the vacancy.

Dean offered his resignation at the October 15 meeting of parks district commissioners, after having served on the board since January. He cited time conflicts as his reason for leaving the position.

Parks commissioners are unpaid and meet once a month to conduct district business. Commissioners also take on a portion of the day-to-day operations of the two properties owned by the district: the Gulf Road community center and Baker Field. This includes opening the building for local groups to use, coordinating with contractors on maintenance, planning and staffing kayak and summer kids programs, and taking the recycling to the dump. Interested community members can contact any parks commissioner: Mary Edgley, Bev Griffith, Linda Hughes or Mark Robbins.
