He studied theology at Pembroke College, University of Oxford with Bishop (now Metropolitan) Kallistos Ware, going on to postgraduate work in the field of religious education at King's College, University of London. Fr. Platt was ordained deacon in 1995 by Metropolitan Anthony Bloom, and served as his deacon for six years, before being ordained priest in 2001 to serve the Orthodox community in Oxford. In 2010 he was elevated to the rank of Archpriest. In addition to his other duties, Fr. Stephen serves as the National Ecumenical Officer and Secretary for Inter-Christian Relations for the Russian Orthodox Church in the UK; and he is the head of the Church's Department for Education and Youth Work. He is married to Anna, who works as librarian in the Slavonic Library of the University of Oxford, and they have five children.

The Rev. Canon Martin Draper will preach at the 5:30 PM service. Canon Draper is a retired priest living in London. His early ministry was in the Diocese of London, where he served at St. Mary-the-Virgin, Primrose Hill, and St. Matthew's, Westminster.
