Evensong for the Feast of the

Nativity of St. John the Baptist

6 PM     Church

On Thursday, June 25, at 6 PM, The Church of St. Michael & St. George will host a festival Evensong for the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. Worshippers will enjoy glorious music and medieval pageantry and are invited to join in prayers for peace in the Holy Land and the welfare of the poor and sick. The service is open to all.

This annual Festival Evensong and Service of Rededication is celebrated by the Order of St. John, which is both an active, practical charity and an order of chivalry headed by Queen Elizabeth II. This year's service will include a two-part anthem composed by Rob Lehman, the organist and choirmaster at The Church of St. Michael & St. George, and is based on a poem by Friedrich Schiller. It will also include the St. Louis premiere of an anthem commissioned especially for services of the Order of St. John by Philip W.J. Stopford.

The guest preacher will be The Rev'd Canon John W. Kilgore, MD, KStJ, Vice Chancellor for the Community of the Priory in the U.S. of the Order of St. John. For more information on the Order of St. John, please contact Thomas M. Hyers, MD, OStJ, at 314.567.5627 or 314.517.7116.

MS Mission Week:

Last week, 40 students and a multitude of adults and teenagers experienced an amazing week of serving our St. Louis community. They sorted food at the STL Foodbank, gardened in the Shepherd Farm Garden at Good Shepherd Church, helped in a food pantry in Ferguson, and enjoyed the Zoo and a picnic with children from Gateway 180 Shelter. In addition, this group collected socks and underwear for the Little Bits Foundation and built and painted bird houses that will be donated to various agencies in our community.

THANK YOU to ALL who participated as students, volunteers, organizers and drivers! To see the pictures of this amazing week please visit the YM Facebook page.

Nicaraguan Mission          Nicaraguan girl
For the last 15 years, The Church of St. Michael & St. George has supported the mission work of Nour Sirker and his Nicaraguan foundation in creating and operating schools and medical clinics in Managua, Nicaragua by raising funds to support the schools and by traveling each year to Managua to provide hands-on help and encouragement.

This year is no exception: Our group will be in Managua for two weeks starting July 19, 2015. Missioners can come for either week or both. Participants report life-changing spiritual experiences.

Why not join us this year? If you are interested, call Carroll Stribling at 314.956.5973 to find out more.

Items Needed for Nicaragua Auction on September 18!

In past years, parishioners have generously donated items such as tickets to the Muny, etc. to the Nicaragua Auction. Since the Auction will be in September this year, summer events are not as easily donated as winter events. Surely some of you have tickets to the Cardinals (fall games), Blues, Rams, or Billikens games, or tickets to the Rep, the Symphony, CASA, The Bach Society, the FOX, the Sheldon, or other arts or entertainment events that you would be willing to donate to a good cause and for a tax deduction. If so, contact Larry Butterfield, Auction Co-Chair at: lbutter@hotmail.com or 314.570.4684 or WSMM Chairman Carroll Stribling at: carroll.stribling@gmail.com or 314.956.5973.
