Nicaraguan Mission Update  Nicaraguan girl
For the last 15 years, The Church of St. Michael & St. George has supported the mission work of Nour Sirker and his Nicaraguan foundation in creating and operating schools and medical clinics in Managua, Nicaragua by raising funds to support the schools and by traveling each year to Managua to provide hands-on help and encouragement.

This year is no exception: Our group will be in Managua for two weeks starting July 19, 2015. Missioners can come for either week or both. Over the years, more than 100 parishioners have gone on these trips, some for many consecutive years. Participants report a life-changing spiritual experience helping underprivileged children in Nicaragua.

Why not join us this year? If you are interested, call Carroll Stribling at 314-956-5973 to find out more.

Read more.... for impressions from two first-time travelers who accompanied us on the Mission Trip last year.

Hunger Ministry

To the left of the Taylor Room are two closets marked Hunger Ministry. This is where you will find pans, recipes, Meal-a-Month Yellow Bags, and shelves to place filled Meal-a-Month Bags. They are all now located together.

Contact Becky Zaccarello at zaclife@aol.com for further information, or check with the Church Reception Desk. Your giving and sharing mean so much to so many!

Shelter Ministry Volunteers Needed

The Shelter Ministry is looking for a handful of additional dedicated volunteers who would be willing to commit to serving at the Shelter breakfast one Sunday a month i.e., either the first, second, third, or fourth Sunday of each month. We need folks who will help with cooking, set-up, and serving breakfast from 6:15 AM to about 8:15 AM. We are also looking for volunteers to establish dishwashing crews for each Sunday. This role would be different from the regular breakfast volunteers in that your services would be needed only from 7:30 AM to about 8:25 AM.

If any among you are willing to say, "Here I am", please contact Nick Clifford at 314.997.4011 or nickclifsr@yahoo.com or Laurie Brown at laurie@csmsg.org for answers to any questions you might have about this service opportunity and which Sunday of the month you would like to serve, if you feel this opportunity suits you.

Lost and Found

If you are missing a coat, keys, or glasses, please check the Lost and Found area in the Narthex at the back of the Sanctuary.

Can You Help?

Donate Your Old Eye Glasses! Help Others See:

The Downtown Lion's Club is once again collecting used glasses. Drop your old prescription glasses in the box in the Church Library and help provide improved vision for someone living in a developing country. The glasses will be picked up, sorted, and shipped to people all over the world who cannot afford prescription eye glasses. If you have questions, please call Ralph Lewis at 314.239.6023 for more information about the program. Your old glasses can help make improved vision possible for someone in need!

CSMSG Girls' Choir Book Drive: The CSMSG Girls' Choir is sponsoring a year-long Book Drive for the children of Gateway 180, a local homeless shelter CSMSG regularly supports. A collection basket has been set up in the Church Library to collect your gently-used children's books. Please contact Bess Lehman with any questions at csmsgbookdrive@gmail.com. Thank you!

Help Us Grow

Seeds for Growth!
planter

Wonderful stories are unfolding in our Church every day: Stories of faith, devotion, and love for our neighbors. Great things truly are happening here. But if CSMSG is to continue with great things, if we are to continue to grow, we need your help.

Please pick up a CSMSG business card(s) from the "planters" located in the Narthex and Great Hall. Plant one of CSMSG's "Seeds for Growth" in the hand of a friend who is looking to be a part of a wonderful story and a church community. We need your support to help us grow!

Spiritual Companionship

Spiritual Companionship

For 25 years, The Church of St. Michael & St. George has offered Spiritual Companionship (Spiritual Direction), a ministry of prayer and presence. Nicki Gillis, a trained lay Spiritual Director, is available to meet with individuals who are interested in exploring this personal approach to spiritual formation. Sometimes called "the ministry of holy listening," Spiritual Companionship offers the participant an opportunity to be accompanied and guided on his or her journey toward God through confidential one-on-one meetings with a Spiritual Director. Contact Nicki at 314.863.0407 or nickigillis@att.net.
