Palm Cross Making

Last night, March 25, CSMSG parishioners and friends participated in Palm Cross Making in preparation for Palm Sunday. We thank these volunteers for their time and participation in this important tradition!

The date palm can be found in a variety of religious texts and spiritual traditions. For Christians, Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. If you are curious about the practice of palm crosses, please access The Tradition of Palm Crosses, a document that discusses in more detail the history and significance of the palm cross.

Follow the link below to view CSMSG's Facebook "Making Palm Crosses" photo album, which demonstrates the fun had by all while making palm crosses and contributing to CSMSG's vibrant parish life!

Stewardship Campaign 2014-15

"Today, we re-enact the coming of Jesus into Jerusalem. We have blessed the palms and held them as we proclaim Jesus as 'The One!'"

Those who honored Jesus back then used palms; today, we honor him in our own way as we proclaim him our Lord and Savior. Our gifts, generously given this day, enable The Church of St. Michael & St. George to proclaim this Holy Week the wonderful story of God's redemption for humankind.

If you have not yet made a pledge and wish to do so, you may pick up a pledge card in the pew, Narthex, on the website at www.csmsg.org, or by calling the Church at 314.721.1502.

Thank you for your pledge!

Parishioner Generosity

The generosity of a parishioner to the Endowment Fund, allows us to bring in a wonderful guest preacher every year for Holy Week. This year we are fortunate to have The Rev. Canon Jeremy Davies join us.

We continue to reap the benefits of a gift made years ago!

Nicaraguan Mission Update  Nicaraguan girl
For the last 15 years, The Church of St. Michael & St. George has supported the mission work of Nour Sirker and his Nicaraguan foundation in creating and operating schools and medical clinics in Managua, Nicaragua by raising funds to support the schools and by traveling each year to Managua to provide hands-on help and encouragement.

This year is no exception: Our group will be in Managua for two weeks starting July 19, 2015. Missioners can come for either week or both. Over the years, more than 100 parishioners have gone on these trips, some for many consecutive years. They report a life-changing spiritual experience helping underprivileged children in Nicaragua.

Why not join us this year? If you are interested, call Carroll Stribling at 314-956-5973 to find out more.

Read more.... for impressions from two first-time travelers who accompanied us on the Mission Trip last year.

Hunger Ministry

To the left of the Taylor Room are two closets marked Hunger Ministry. This is where you will find pans, recipes, Meal-a-Month Yellow Bags, and shelves to place filled Meal-a-Month Bags. They are all now located together.

Contact Becky Zaccarello at zaclife@aol.com for further information, or check with the Church Reception Desk. Your giving and sharing mean so much to so many!

Shelter Ministry Volunteers Needed

The Shelter Ministry is looking for a handful of additional dedicated volunteers who would be willing to commit to serving at the Shelter breakfast one Sunday a month i.e., either the first, second, third, or fourth Sunday of each month. We need folks who will help with cooking, set-up, and serving breakfast from 6:15 AM to about 8:15 AM. We are also looking for volunteers to establish dishwashing crews for each Sunday. This role would be different from the regular breakfast volunteers in that your services would be needed only from 7:30 AM to about 8:25 AM.

If any among you are willing to say, "Here I am", please contact Nick Clifford at 314.997.4011 or nickclifsr@yahoo.com or Laurie Brown at laurie@csmsg.org for answers to any questions you might have about this service opportunity and, which Sunday of the month you would like to serve if you feel this opportunity suits you.

Help Us Grow

Seeds for Growth!

Wonderful stories are unfolding in our Church every day: Stories of faith, devotion, and love for our neighbors. Great things truly are happening here. But if CSMSG is to continue with great things, if we are to continue to grow, we need your help.

Please pick up a CSMSG business card(s) from the "planters" located in the Narthex and Great Hall. Plant one of CSMSG's "Seeds for Growth" in the hand of a friend who is looking to be a part of a wonderful story and a church community. We need your support to help us grow!
