Lenten Quiet Day

Dr. Janet Ruffing, RSM, Professor of the Practice of Spirituality and Ministerial Leadership at Yale Divinity School, will lead our Quiet Day on February 21.

She will lead us through a reflection on Lent as a journey from Transfiguration to Transformation that will include chanting, visual contemplation of Fra Angelico's painting of the Transfiguration, time for personal prayer, and some faith sharing. We will ultimately look more closely at the transformation that contemplating the Christ mysteries achieves.

Dr. Ruffing's work with us promises to be a great way of opening ourselves further to the potential promises of not only Easter, but of the Lenten journey as well. As usual, we will conclude our time together with a simple Eucharist. Quiet Day will be held from 8:30 AM-3 PM.

Shelter Ministry Volunteers Needed

The Shelter Ministry is looking for a handful of additional dedicated volunteers who would be willing to commit to serving at the Shelter breakfast one Sunday a month-−i.e., either the first, second, third, or fourth Sunday of each month. We need folks who will help with cooking, set-up, and serving breakfast from 6:15 AM to about 8:15 AM. We are also looking for volunteers to establish dishwashing crews for each Sunday. This role would be different from the regular breakfast volunteers in that your services would be needed only from 7:30 AM to about 8:25 AM.

If any among you are willing to say, "Here I am" please contact Nick Clifford at 314.997.4011 or nickclifsr@yahoo.com or Laurie Brown at laurie@csmsg.org for answers to any questions you might have about this service opportunity and, which Sunday of the month you would like to serve if you feel this opportunity suits you.

Can You Help?

Donate Your Old Eye Glasses! Help Others See:

The Downtown Lion's Club is once again collecting used glasses. Drop your old prescription glasses in the box in the Church Library and help provide improved vision for someone living in a developing country. The glasses will be picked up, sorted, and shipped to people all over the world who cannot afford prescription eye glasses. If you have questions, please call Ralph Lewis at 314.239.6023 for more information about the program. Your old glasses can help make improved vision possible for someone in need!

CSMSG Girls' Choir Book Drive: The CSMSG Girls' Choir is sponsoring a year-long Book Drive for the children of Gateway 180, a local homeless shelter CSMSG regularly supports. A collection basket has been set up in the Church Library to collect your gently-used children's books. Please contact Bess Lehman with any questions at csmsgbookdrive@gmail.com. Thank you!

Help Us Grow

Seeds for Growth!
planter

Wonderful stories are unfolding in our Church every day: Stories of faith, devotion, and love for our neighbors. Great things truly are happening here. But if CSMSG is to continue with great things, if we are to continue to grow, we need your help.

Please pick up a CSMSG business card(s) from the "planters" located in the Narthex and Great Hall. Plant one of CSMSG's "Seeds for Growth" in the hand of a friend who is looking to be a part of a wonderful story and a church community. We need your support to help us grow!

Spiritual Companionship

Spiritual Companionship

For 25 years, The Church of St. Michael & St. George has offered Spiritual Companionship, a ministry of prayer and presence. Nicki Gillis, a trained lay Spiritual Director, is available to meet with individuals who are interested in exploring this personal approach to spiritual formation. Sometimes called "the ministry of holy listening," Spiritual Companionship offers the participant an opportunity to be accompanied and guided on his or her journey toward God through confidential one-on-one meetings with a Spiritual Director. Contact Nicki at 314.863.0407 or nickigillis@att.net.

We are also offering a five-morning schedule for both classes. Our programs are taught by a degreed teacher and have proven quite successful since their inception.
