This Sunday at the 9:15 AM liturgy, we will celebrate the 4,000th sacrament of Holy Baptism to take place here at The Church of St. Michael & St. George during our 101-year history.

The first Baptism was held on January 11, 1914. The Rev. George E. Norton, the Rector at the time, baptized his own son, John Hancock Norton. Isabel Skinker was one of the sponsors; the other was Robert Redfield.

James Peurifoy McDonald III, a fourth generation of his family to be at The Church of St. Michael & St. George, will be number 4,000.  Thanks be to God!

If you are interested in more information about making a planned gift to CSMSG, please visit our website at www.csmsg.org for more information, or contact the Rector's Office at 314.721.1502.

Can You Help?

St. Stephen's Food Pantry

Most of us are keenly aware of the issues facing the township of Ferguson, Missouri. You may know people who live or work there. Because the lives of many are disrupted and life as usual is not the case, we ask you to make a one-time donation of food, household goods, or money to assist those in need.

Meal-a-Month bags and envelopes are available for your convenience in the Great Hall. Contributions may, of course, be made without using either. The donated goods and funds will be delivered to the St. Stephen's Food Pantry. Ask the Receptionist about where to put the bags, or place them directly in the Meal-a-Month closet to the left of the Taylor Room entrance. Monetary donations in the form of checks should be made payable to The Hunger Ministry at CSMSG. We are also collecting school supplies for Ferguson children of all ages. A collection basket is located outside St. George's Chapel.

The Episcopal Church Women within the Diocese, including the CSL/Susan Mount Guild here at CSMSG, are collaborating in this effort to bring varying forms of help to the Ferguson community, as are the Young Adult and Children's Education ministries.

Toiletries, peanut butter and jelly, non-perishable items in cans like fruits, soups, stews, and tuna, cheese or peanut butter crackers, baby food in non-breakable containers, juices, and the aforementioned school supplies are the items most appreciated at this time.

Thank you in advance for giving. If you have any questions, please contact the Rev. Kit McLean, Becky Zaccarello (Hunger Ministry) or Cheryl Ward (Church Service League/Susan Mount Guild-ECW) through the Church at 314.721.1502.

Opportunity for Ministry: Ushering!

Shelter Ministry Volunteers Needed

The Shelter Ministry is looking for a handful of additional dedicated volunteers who would be willing to commit to serving at the Shelter breakfast one Sunday a month, i.e. the first, second, third, or fourth Sunday of each month. We need folks who will help with cooking, set-up, and serving breakfast from 6:15 AM to about 8:15 AM. We are also looking for volunteers to form dishwashing crews for each Sunday. This role would be different from the regular breakfast volunteers in that your time commitment is only from 7:30 AM to about 8:25 AM.

If any among you are willing to say, "Here I am", please contact Nick Clifford at 314.997.4011 or [email protected] or Laurie Brown at [email protected] to answer any questions you might have about this arrangement and, of course, which Sunday of the month you would like to serve if this opportunity suits you.
