Guild Tidings Newsletter

Seeking Writers for CSMSG's "Guild Tidings" Newsletter

CSMSG's "Guild Tidings" are newsletters envisioned to be directed by and for the members of our various Guilds. The focus of the newsletters will be on sharing information about Guild members as well as sharing specific information needed to better perform the Guilds assigned duties. The articles will be a little longer than what is written in the parish weekly e-letters and the Sunday service leaflets. In addition, archived copies of the newsletters can be used to tell a Guild's story and help attract new volunteers to that area of service. For more information, contact Denise Chachere at drchachere@sbcglobal.net.

Stewardship Campaign 2014

345 households have made a pledge for 2014 for a total of $1,674,540.

For forty days, Jesus took stock of his life who he was and what he wanted to accomplish. May this holy season of Lent be a time for you to contemplate anew the many blessings of God and to respond to God by a generous giving of your very selves. Generous giving always brings rewards, as our Lord found out. As surely as Lent ends with Easter, so a life of giving ends with a greater sense of satisfaction and greater joy.

Please contact the Church if you need a pledge card at Laurie@csmsg.org or 314.721.1502. Thank you for your pledge.

"Celebrating Our History, Insuring Our Future"

Planned Giving at CSMSG

Planned Giving is a term for the number of ways in which parishioners can insure that their stewardship efforts continue after their death by making a gift to the Endowment Fund. If you care enough about your church to make a faithful annual pledge, contributing to our Endowment Fund should be a natural next step. If you are interested in more information about making a planned gift to CSMSG, please visit our website at www.csmsg.org for more information, or contact the Rector's Office at 314.721.1502.

Bishop Wolf has served the Episcopal Church in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Rhode Island. She has faced the challenges of forgiving and accepting forgiveness.

"Forgiveness and love are allies in the Christian life, not merely as emotional realities, but as a journey of the will. When Jesus forgave the thief who was crucified with him, he was embracing each of us with a love beyond our fears."

This is a wonderful opportunity to see what the CSMSG Women's Retreat is all about. Six hours with women of the parish -- growing our spiritual faith together.

For more information, contact Laurie at Laurie@csmsg.org or 314.721.1502.

Steak & Stories

6 PM    Great Hall

Spring is around the corner! Please join us for Steak & Stories for April 8 from 6-8 PM!

Christopher Desloge, a Roman Catholic by heritage, has been a proud and excited member of St. Michael & St. George since 2010. In addition to his family business, he has used his ability as a writer, historian, "ancestrist", devoted man of God, and his activity in lay ministry serving the poor and homeless, to bring to Steak & Stories a special perspective drawing from his ancestry to near the time of Christ.

While the Desloge name is a part of the St. Louis historical narrative since the early 1800s, Chris Desloge will share with us excerpts from two of his books which tie the providence of God as played out in exciting historical moments, how this Providence settles on us and challenges us in our society today, while also questioning about the future, and how he trusts God will continue to form man's framework a thousand years hence.

Mr. Desloge will offer excerpts from his books in context with God's role in His and our own desire for human improvement, and our shifting ethos over the centuries, and for centuries to come.

To make reservations please contact the Receptionist of the Church at reception@csmsg.org or 314.721.1502 by Monday, April 7.

Through the Episcopal City Mission (ECM), CSMSG, along with other sponsoring Episcopal churches, provides an important ministry to incarcerated young people who are awaiting trial. Three staff chaplains see to the spiritual needs of the youth. Among the various programs ECM offers are monthly birthday parties (see http://www.ecitymission.org/a_programs.php). Ted Drewes donates frozen custard, and the hosting church provides pizza, soda, and small birthday gifts. The party begins with prayer and introductions, followed by acknowledgment of birthdays. Food and drink are served, then a game, usually BINGO, is played. CSMSG youth are making both birthday and Easter cards to give out at the party.

For more information, or to volunteer to join in the fun, please contact The Rev. Kit McLean at kmclean@csmsg.org.

Tickets are $75 each and include cocktails, wine with a fabulous dinner, and entertainment. Those who have gone in past years can tell you how much fun this evening is!

The cost of this evening is graciously underwritten by our parishioners, Tom & Michele Klein, so all of the proceeds go toward funding the mission and our annual trip.

Shelter Ministry Volunteers Needed

The Shelter Ministry is looking for a handful of additional dedicated volunteers who would be willing to commit to serving at the Shelter breakfast one Sunday a month, i.e. the first, second, third, or fourth Sunday of each month. We need folks who will help with cooking, set-up, and serving breakfast from 6:15 AM to about 8:15 AM. We are also looking for volunteers to form dishwashing crews for each Sunday. This role would be different from the regular breakfast volunteers in that your time commitment is only from 7:30 AM to about 8:25 AM. If any among you are willing to say, "Here I am", please contact Nick Clifford at 314.997.4011 or nickclifsr@yahoo.com or Laurie Brown at laurie@csmsg.org to answer any questions you might have about this arrangement and, of course, which Sunday of the month you would like to serve if this opportunity suits you.
