Proposed New Bylaws

The Vestry has been at work all year long revising and updating the Bylaws of our parish to

bring them into the twenty-first century by reflecting the current practice and canons that guide

The Church of St. Michael & St. George.

The new Bylaws will be considered for approval at the Annual Meeting on January 26.

Continue below for Proposed Bylaws.

2014 Vestry Nominations
Patrick Deaton I began attending CSMSG after I moved here from Springfield, Missouri, in 1999. I wanted to learn the Bible and to explore how politics and religion intersected. I found much more. The worship services showed me a path to serenity so I could accept my limitations, let go of things beyond my control, and stand for what was important by trusting the future while God's plan unfolded. I attend the Sunday evening service and I'm a lay reader in the St. Paul Guild.
Charlotte Foley I joined CSMSG in 1991 shortly before the birth of my first daughter. My husband, Jim, and I had moved to St. Louis in 1988 and we explored options for a church home. Having been raised in the Episcopal church in Memphis, I found the liturgy and music familiar and comforting. Once our two daughters became old enough to be involved in Church School, I became involved in teaching Sunday School for about the next ten years. I have also been involved in the Youth Ministry in participating on the Kick-Off Committee for the Youth Group. Additionally, I've gone on two mission trips with the youth group as a chaperone. Now an empty nester, I'm looking for new ways to be involved at CSMSG!
Michael Hanrahan I have been a lifelong Christian, baptized and confirmed Catholic. I moved to St. Louis during high school after spending my early years on the east coast in Washington, D.C. Returning to St. Louis after graduating college at the University of Missouri, I established my residence and pursued my career in the technology industry. In 1997 I met my wife, Heather Fordyce, a life-long parishioner of CSMSG. We were wed here in 2002. I am grateful that I was introduced to CSMSG at that time, as I was welcomed with great hospitality. Upon completing the CSMSG adult confirmation, I committed myself to becoming involved with various projects with the church. I have started various outreach programs, such as "Ready2Work", "Faith@work", and continue leading our "Steak & Stories" men's group which has had much success. My family has benefitted greatly from our church community. Both of our children have been baptized here and continue to learn from our ministry through the children's Sunday School program and liturgy. I am honored to be nominated to join the Vestry. I look forward to sharing my passion, energy, and commitment to further our vision and goals for the present and future of CSMSG.

John Rowe I was born and raised in the St. Louis region. After graduating from Bradley University and serving in the U.S. Army, I returned to St. Louis to begin a banking career that spanned three decades. In 1998, I joined Bethesda Health Group, Inc., where I served as President & CEO for 12 years. Since becoming a member of CSMSG in 2005, I have been a member of the Finance Committee and Chairman of the Endowment Expansion Committee. My wife, Ginny, and I live in Frontenac.

Liza Stanton Our family started the wonderful relationship with CSMSG over five years ago after our kids had attending The St. Michael School for a while. Emma and Phil started school at age three and were part of the school community until 6th grade. The daily morning chapels they attended were very special and it was that environment our family wanted for our spiritual needs. I taught Sunday School for a while and my husband, Phil, is a member of the Youth Ministry committee. Emma is an acolyte and my son, Phil, is an usher. These are just some of the very small ways we try to contribute to the glorious community that is CSMSG.
Pam Thomsen I was confirmed in 1989 at CSMSG; and my husband, Brian, and I have been attending CSMSG for 25 years. I taught Sunday School and have been involved in the youth program with our sons, Riley and Ian. This past summer, I went on the High School Mission trip. I am a greeter on Sunday mornings. We are thankful that CSMSG has been a big part of our family.
Stewardship Campaign 2014

325 households have made a pledge for 2014 for a total of $1,597,977.

This Sunday is our Annual Meeting. We will be electing Vestry members to serve for the next three years. We thank God for their practice of stewardship. Your gift of your time, ability, and money enables our Church, Clergy, and Vestry to carry out our mission and vision.

Please contact the Church if you need a pledge card at Laurie@csmsg.org.

Thank you for your pledge.

"Celebrating Our History, Insuring Our Future"

Planned Giving at CSMSG

Planned Giving is a term for the number of ways in which parishioners can insure that their stewardship efforts continue after their death by making a gift to the Endowment Fund. If you care enough about your church to make a faithful annual pledge, contributing to our Endowment Fund should be a natural next step. If you are interested in more information about making a planned gift to CSMSG, please visit our website at www.csmsg.org for more information, or contact the Rector's Office at 314.721.1502.

Women's Retreat

Join us for a special one-day Women's Lenten Retreat with The Rt. Rev. Geralyn Wolf on Saturday, April 5 from 9 AM-3 PM at Church. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 AM.

Download the retreat brochure

$45 includes the retreat, breakfast, and lunch. Childcare is available, reservations are necessary.

Bishop Wolf has served the Episcopal Church in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Rhode Island. She has faced the challenges of forgiving and accepting forgiveness. "Forgiveness and love are allies in the Christian life, not merely as emotional realities, but as a journey of the will. When Jesus forgave the thief who was crucified with him, he was embracing each of us with a love beyond our fears."

This is a wonderful opportunity to see what the CSMSG Women's Retreat is all about. Six hours with women of the parish growing our spiritual faith together.

For more information contact Laurie at Laurie@csmsg.org or 314.721.1502.

Shelter Ministry Volunteers Needed

The Shelter Ministry is looking for a handful of additional dedicated volunteers who would be willing to commit to serving at the Shelter breakfast one Sunday a month, i.e. the first, second, third, or fourth Sunday of each month. We need folks who will help with cooking, set-up, and serving breakfast from 6:15 AM to about 8:15 AM. We are also looking for volunteers to establish dishwashing crews for each Sunday. This role would be different from the regular breakfast volunteers in that your services would be needed only from 7:30 AM to about 8:25 AM. If any among you are willing to say, "Here I am", please contact Nick Clifford at 314.997.4011 or nickclifsr@yahoo.com or Laurie Brown at laurie@csmsg.org to answer any questions you might have about this arrangement and, of course, which Sunday of the month you would like to serve if this opportunity suits you.

Help Us Grow

Seeds for Growth!

Wonderful stories are unfolding in our Church every day: Stories of faith, devotion, and love for our neighbors. Great things truly are happening here. But if CSMSG is to continue with great things, if we are to continue to grow, we need your help.

Please pick up a CSMSG business card(s) from the "planters" located in the Narthex and Great Hall. Plant one of CSMSG's "Seeds for Growth" in the hand of a friend who is looking to be a part of a wonderful story and a church community. We need your support to help us grow!
