Stewardship Campaign 2014

End of year charitable giving fact:
-If you're 70 ½ or older, you can transfer as much as $100,000 from an IRA this year directly to qualified charities without having to include any of that in your income.
Each and every pledge and/or gift makes a real difference here at The Church of St. Michael & St. George! Thank you.
"Celebrating Our History, Insuring Our Future"
Planned Giving at CSMSG
Planned Giving is a term for the number of ways in which parishioners can insure that their stewardship efforts continue after their death by making a gift to the Endowment Fund. If you care enough about your church to make a faithful annual pledge, contributing to our Endowment Fund should be a natural next step. If you are interested in more information about making a planned gift to CSMSG, please visit our website at www.csmsg.org for more information, or contact the Rector's Office at 314.721.1502.

Help Us Grow
Seeds for Growth!
Wonderful stories are unfolding in our Church every day: Stories of faith, devotion, and love for our neighbors. Great things truly are happening here. But if CSMSG is to continue with great things, if we are to continue to grow, we need your help.
Please pick up a CSMSG business card(s) from the "planters" located in the Narthex and Great Hall. Plant one of CSMSG's "Seeds for Growth" in the hand of a friend who is looking to be a part of a wonderful story and a church community. We need your support to help us grow!

Canterbury Bookstore:
The Closing Chapter
After 21 years of fine and faithful service, the Canterbury Bookstore at The Church of St. Michael & St. George will close with this Christmas season. Originally begun by The Rev. Fred Barbee and parishioner Elsie Valier, the Bookstore has served this parish in season and out--most recently under the excellent leadership of Peggy Strelinger.
After managing the Bookstore for fourteen years, Peggy has made the decision to retire. Her retirement, in combination with a weak business environment, and fewer and fewer books being sold overall, seems to suggest that this is the moment for this venerable institution to come to an end.
In all events, we will gain an additional room on the main floor for meetings and classes.
We are looking to build a book guild which will offer special books written by parishioners and by visiting speakers. If you have an interest in being part of this guild, please contact Marlene at marlene@csmsg.org.
|
Canterbury Bookstore
As the Bookstore concludes its closing season, prices on all items are 80% off. No special orders or imprinting are available. However, as always, free gift wrapping is available. There are also unique supply items--gift boxes, wrapping paper, baskets, containers and display accessories--at bargain prices.
Please stop by and let staff thank you personally for your loyal support of the Canterbury Bookstore during the past 21 years. We have enjoyed bringing you a welcoming atmosphere to investigate Episcopal and Christian resources that improve and assist your spiritual journey. Although we won't be "in" the Bookstore, we each look forward to being a part of this community in the days to come.

The Knitting Ministry
This past September, the Knitting Ministry celebrated its tenth birthday! The Knitting Ministry knits mantles of comfort (prayer shawls), baby blankets, and chemo caps. In the last ten years, this ministry has knitted and donated 377 prayer shawls, 74 chemo caps, and 98 baby blankets. We meet once a month on Saturday for knitting, conversation, and lunch. Good Neighbors
Please be considerate of our neighbors on Ellenwood and Wydown. Take advantage of the complimentary valet parking on Sundays and do not park in front of driveways. Valet Parking Valet service by Midwest Parking will be available on Sunday mornings for elderly parishioners and those with special needs. This valuable service is being provided by an anonymous benefactor whom we thank for this very generous gift!
Altar Flowers
Please consider giving flowers in celebration of a special event, in honor or in memory of a loved one. Order forms are available near the Ellenwood Narthex.
Birth Announcements Needed
Please contact Debbie Fenner at debbie@csmsg.org or 314.721.1502 when there is a birth in your family, so we can properly welcome your baby into the parish family.
CSMSG Pre-Primary Enrollment

We are also offering a five-morning schedule for both classes. Our programs are taught by a degreed teacher and have proven quite successful since their inception. For more information, call Carol at 314.721.1502.

The Servers Guild The Servers Guild provides a unique opportunity for students in the 6th through 12th grades to participate in the Sunday liturgies and gain a deeper appreciation for our traditions and style of worship. If you would like to join a group of young people who are dedicated to enhancing the worship experience at CSMSG, contact Fr. Mike Wheeler.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild invites you to deepen your spiritual life and connection to the liturgy by becoming a member. This ministry is dedicated to the service of God by lovingly preparing the altars. Many hands are needed, both weekdays and Sundays, to care for the linens, candles, and silver. Contact Caroline Sheehan at 314.537.3853 or csheehan3@me.com for more information on becoming a member!
