The Rev. Canon Jeremy Davies

A constant presence at Salisbury since 1985, Jeremy Davies is renowned as one of the most creative minds in the Church of England and was the driving force behind the fine services in Salisbury Cathedral until his retirement in January 2012. He contributed enormously to the reputation of the Cathedral, cementing its standing as a centre of liturgical excellence, but he is also known for his inspirational preaching and the caring qualities shown through his pastoral work. He is also known as the script writer and director of The Way of the Cross which has been performed four times in Salisbury. Canon Davies is quite involved in the study of historic liturgies and is sought out to serve as the celebrant for liturgies celebrated according to rites that are no longer in use in the Church. He is a graduate of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and Westcott House.

New Curate has Joined the Staff of CSMSG

The Rev. Kit Sharp McLean

On September 15, 2013, the Rev. Kit Sharp McLean joined our clergy team. Kit is a June graduate of the Yale Divinity School and married to Bill McLean. This is an exciting moment for the parish as we return to four clergy staff and we once again field a team large enough to minister to the needs of this vital and growing parish and proclaim the good news of the Gospel tirelessly. Kit brings energy, experience, and maturity with her, and will make a productive member of our team of priests. We are blessed to have her join us.

Love's Redeeming Work: a major new anthology of Anglican spiritual writings. The selections demonstrate by example the Anglican tenet that different strands of spirituality can be held together in a creative tension that enhance the overall strength of the church. Their variety reflects the worldwide nature of the Anglican communion and includes men and women authors from places such as the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Australia, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. This volume is a shining witness to the impact that Anglican spirituality has had on Christianity throughout the world. Featuring a broad spectrum of literary genres (letters, devotional essays, poetry, reflections on the Scriptures, etc.) Love's Redeeming Works will make a superb reference work.

Jerusalem: The Biography by Simon Montefiore tells the tale of Jerusalem, from King David to Barack Obama, from the birth of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam to the Israel-Palestine conflict. This is the epic history of 3,000 years of faith, slaughter, fanaticism, and coexistence.

Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense by N. T. Wright offers a genial, intelligent view of Christianity, and invites us to compare his work with C.S. Lewis's classic in the same vein, Mere Christianity. This volume has already reached the status as a classic of biblical scholarship. Simply Christian is an exceptional treatise on Christianity that will confirm, challenge, and deepen your understanding of Christian faith and practice.
