Seeds for Growth! planter

Wonderful stories are unfolding in our church every day: Stories of faith, devotion, and love for our neighbors. Great things truly are happening here. But if CSMSG is to continue with great things, if we are to continue to grow, we need your help.

Please pick up a CSMSG business card(s) from the "planters" located in the Narthex and Great Hall. Plant one of CSMSG's "Seeds for Growth" in the hand of a friend who is looking to be a part of a wonderful story and a church community. We need your help to help us grow!

Youth Ministry

Middle Schoolers at McPherson garden

Middle School Mission Week is this week and we have 22 students participating in service projects around our St. Louis community, as well as learning about life in the many diverse communities of St. Louis and the lives of those community members who are less fortunate than we are! The week began with an urban adventure riding the MetroLink to Laclede's Landing and touring Nelly's Extreme Institute! The students then took a walk across the Eads Bridge to the Malcom W. Martin Memorial Park. On Tuesday, our MS Mission team of 24 did the work of FIFTY people! They processed 528 cases of food totaling 17,424 pounds to provide 14,224 meals to the hungry members of our community! Wednesday, the students volunteered in a community garden in St. Louis City and recorded a drum piece in Buzz's studio. Today our team is volunteering at Northside Elementary School. This week ends with our students partnering with the mothers and children from Gateway 180 to tour the Zoo and concludes with a cookout in Forest Park. Kudos to the students and adult volunteers for a job well done this week, which has impacted more folks than we can imagine!

The Three T's
Support CSMSG's mission trip to Nicaragua with the three T's: Travel-size toiletries, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.
Do you, your friends, and/or your co-workers travel frequently? Don't forget to save (unopened) hotel toiletries for the 2013 mission trip to Nicaragua. Missioners take toiletry bags of soap, shampoo, lotion, toothbrushes, and toothpaste to the patients at the women's and children's hospital in Managua. Last year, we distributed over 300 bags of these helpful hygiene packets.
Toothbrushes and toothpaste go to the students at the Santa Rosa and Carolina de Sirker schools for healthy and bright smiles! Perhaps your dentist has extras?
All donations can be dropped off at the Nicaragua donation closet, located across from the Church library.

The Nicaragua Mission Wish List 2013 is posted on the "Faith in Action" bulletin board.

We'll be packing "Second Suitcases" to Nicaragua on Friday, July 12 at 5 PM and Saturday, July 13 at 9 AM.

Book recommendations from the Canterbury Bookstore:

The Episcopal Handbook is a guidebook that provides historical and theological information about the Episcopal Church as well as fun-filled facts and practical tips about being a church-going follower of Jesus Christ. Complete with illustrations, The Episcopal Handbook is a wide-ranging resource that contains vast truths, complex details, and bits of humor about the Episcopal understanding of the Christian life.

Scarred by Struggle, Transformed by Hope is an contemplative text written by Sister Joan Chittister that offers a new perspective on those moments of pain, suffering, and stress that are universal to the human condition. Chittister, drawing from her own lived experience of deep sorrow and disappointment, suggests we use these moments of darkness as opportunities for us to "stretch our souls and gain new insights" that can enable us to grow and move forward in our lives. Meant to help readers cope with their own suffering and disappointment, Scarred by Struggle, Transformed by Hope is, in Chittister's words, "An anatomy of struggle and an account of the way hope grows in us, despite our moments of darkness."

C.S. Lewis: The Man Behind Narnia by Beatrice Gormley is a photo biography that will appeal to the younger devotees of The Chronicles of Narnia, who will undoubtedly sink their teeth into this literary offering exploring the life of the man behind the popular fantasy series. This biography contains more than 50 photographs that demonstrate the story of C.S. Lewis' life and work, from his boyhood in Belfast, Ireland, where he and his brother first created their first imaginary world, to Lewis' adult years spent as a renowned scholar and beloved author.

We hope that these featured selections have successfully proven that the Canterbury Bookstore truly has something to offer for everyone. We look forward to your visit!

The Knitting Ministry
knitting demo
The Knitting Ministry has been active at CSMSG since 2004. Its mission is to offer love, comfort, and prayers to fellow parishioners and friends through knitted objects: Mantles of Comfort, Baby Blankets of Love, and Chemo Caps. On the second Saturday of the month, there is a luncheon gathering where knitters share experiences, get to know one another, and knit together. Prayerful knitting nurtures the knitters as well as the recipients of the knitted objects. For more information, contact Nicki Gillis at nickigillis@att.net.

Good Neighbors
Please be considerate of our neighbors on Ellenwood and Wydown. Take advantage of the complimentary valet parking on Sundays and do not park in front of driveways.

Valet Parking

Valet service by Midwest Parking will be available on Sunday mornings for elderly parishioners and those with special needs. This valuable service is being provided by an anonymous benefactor. Thank you for this very generous gift!

Altar Flowers

Please consider giving flowers in celebration of a special event, in honor or in memory of a loved one. Order forms are available near the Ellenwood Narthex.

Birth Announcements Needed

Please contact Debbie Fenner at debbie@csmsg.org or 314.721.1502 when there is a birth in your family, so we can properly welcome the new baby into the parish family.

CSMSG Pre-Primary Enrollment

We are also offering a five-morning schedule for both classes. Our programs are taught by a degreed teacher and have proven quite successful since their inception.
