A Candlelight Service
of Advent Lessons and Carols

 5 PM
A wonderful and meaningful way to usher in the season of Advent is through the service of Advent Lessons and Carols. This service, originally composed by The Very Reverend Eric Milner-White for use at King's College Chapel, Cambridge, proclaims in word and song the promise of God to redeem the world through the Advent of His Son. The metaphoric procession through the liturgy - from darkness into light - is intended to prepare the worshipper for the coming of the true Light, Jesus Christ. This service has a become a favorite throughout the community and a festive reception follows in the Great Hall.

Canterbury Bookstore
Canterbury Bookstore at christmas
Advent is quickly approaching and as you prepare for the season, come by the Canterbury Bookstore and take a look at the many resources available. The Bookstore has a fine selection of books, Bibles, music and devotionals to complement the season. Advent wreaths, candles, nativities, Christmas cards, whatever your seasonal needs, the Bookstore is ready to serve you. Come to Canterbury for Christmas--beautiful and colorful Christmas cards, hand-painted Russian Santa figurines from Ukraine, beautiful nativities, large and small, from all over the world, and many designs in Advent calendars and Christmas stockings will delight children and oldsters alike.

Our suggestion for the week is Family Nights for Advent and Christmas by Terry and Mimi Reilly. It is a tool for families to use in rediscovering God's love and to build and strengthen love within the family. Make Advent a special family time to come together and share and grow and discover. There is something for everyone on your list. Remember: Free gift-wrapping, assistance with shipping, and the Bookstore does not collect sales tax.

The Knitting Ministry
knitting demo The Knitting Ministry has been active at St. Michael's since 2004. Its mission is to offer love, comfort and prayers to fellow parishioners and friends through knitted objects--Mantles of Comfort, Baby Blankets of Love and Chemo Caps. On the second Saturday of the month, there is a luncheon gathering where knitters share experiences, get to know one another and knit together. Prayerful knitting nurtures the knitters as well as the recipients of the knitted objects. (For more information, contact Nicki Gillis at nickigillis@att.net).

Good Neighbors

Please be considerate of our neighbors on Ellenwood and Wydown. Take advantage of the complimentary valet parking on Sundays and do not park in front of driveways.

Valet Parking

Valet service by Midwest Parking will be available on Sunday mornings for elderly parishioners and those with special needs. This valuable service is being provided by an anonymous benefactor. Thank you for this very generous gift!

Altar Flowers

Please consider giving flowers in celebration of a special event, in honor or in memory of a loved one. Order forms are available near the Ellenwood narthex.

Birth Announcements Needed

Please contact Debbie Fenner at debbie@csmsg.org or 314.721.1502 when there is a birth in the church family, so we can properly welcome the new baby into the parish.

We are also offering a five-morning schedule for both classes. Our programs are taught by a degreed teacher and have proven quite successful since their inception.
