Tap That Pumpkin
Trick-or-Treaters delight in all of the sights of All Hallow's Eve. Clearly not just for children anymore, Halloween has become a great celebration to stop being yourself for a night and become whoever or whatever you want to be. Cities across America have dedicated Halloween parties to bring out the ghoulie in you. Are you throwing your own Halloween party? Then wow your guest by serving beer from a pumpkin! As seen across the internet in the last few years, serving beer from a pumpkin isn't all that difficult and only requires a few tools: Pumpkin, Drill, Spigot, & Beer.
-
Get a pumpkin. The bigger the better and depending on your party size, you might want to get two. Hollow out the pumpkin and thin the inside of the walls a bit.
-
Drill a hole where your spigot will go near the bottom of the pumpkin. Make sure the hole is big enough to push the spigot through but small enough that it creates a tight fit and doesn't leak
-
Insert spigot. Ensure tight fit. Test spigot with water first. If everything is pouring correctly and there's no leaks....
-
BEER! Don't limit yourself to a pumpkin beer either. Yes, this seem like the best fit here but experiment a little with a brown sugar maple porter or a malty Scotch ale. The pumpkin will have a slight effect on the beer, very subtle but fresh pumpkin taste, but in no way will over power what ever beer you choose to use.
Happy Halloween folks!
(This is the part where we tell you to be safe and make good choices.)
Cheers!

Lindemans Sampler Pack
The Lindemans Sampler is designed to make it simple to experience a range of fruit lambics - Belgian ales fermented with wild yeast - from this family owner brewery established in 1822. It's a great gift: these beers are so tasty and unique that Lindemans are the best selling Lambics in the US. The sampler contains one 12 oz. bottle each of four Lindemans fruit lambics: Framboise (raspberry), Peche (peach), Kriek (cherry), and Pomme (apple), each in an elegant embossed bottle with a cork under the crown.

Funky Buddha Sweet Potato Casserole
For fall release, Funky Buddha decided to create a beer that strayed from the pumpkin mold, instead patterning it after this eponymous Thanksgiving dish. And here's a novel thought: we actually brew it in the Fall as well, around November, so you can drink it at the same time that you're tucking into your Thanksgiving feast. At nearly 8%, it's a big, rich, sticky beer full of sweet potato and marshmallow flavor. 7.9% ABV AVAILABLE NEXT WEEK!

Twisted Pine Hop Zealot
"We crafted this ale for those-some call them fanatics-devoted to the bountiful bines of the hop plant. Hop Zealot pours like a golden beam of sunshine with a massive blast of hop aroma that'll make a true believer out of any IPA lover. Drain every last drop and beseech the bottle for more, but do not forsake your friends... They're thirsty too!" 7.4% ABV

Twisted Pine Le Petit Saison
Despite its humble origins as a restorative for Belgian farm workers during harvest time, these days saison quenches the thirst of the masses. La Petite Saison's hazy, golden yellow appearance and stiff white head are a tribute to its rustic roots, while its effervescence buoys its delicately spicy and fruity flavors derived from the yeast much like champagne does. A tulip of our saison will turn any pauper into a prince...at least it'll make you feel that way! 5.9% ABV

Twisted Pine Audacity

AuDACITY combines Old World ingredients with homegrown Colorado crystal hops to form a shimmering, smooth and deceptively easy-to-drink treat. So grab a glass of gold and help us say cheers to 19 years!" 9% ABV

Founders Hop Harvest 2014
By: Founders Brewing Co (via Youtube)
Every year during the hop harvest we visit our hop growers out in Yakima Valley, Washington, to select the hops that we will use the following year. This year we brought a camera along to document our trip so craft beer enthusiasts could get an inside look at what goes into the harvesting, processing and selection of hops. This video allows enthusiasts to feel like they're hanging out with our brewers Jeremy and Laura as they visit different farms, walk through hop fields and evaluate Simcoe, Cascade, Centennial, Amarillo and more varieties. This video captures our first week out in Yakima as well as some footage from our local farms here in Michigan.

Halloween Candy and Beer: 5 Spookily Perfect Pairings
By: Lucy Burningham via Bon Appetit
Everyone knows a fun-size Snickers bar is pretty damn perfect on its own. But like so many things, it tastes 5,000 times better with beer. If you can't keep your hands out of the candy bowl, go full tilt by pairing classic Halloween candies with the perfect craft beers.
No, not the can of High Life that's been stuck in the back of the fridge since January. The right beer.
We came up with these pairings, but only you can figure out the right candy-to-pint ratio.

10 Spooky Beer and Movie Pairings

By: Daniel Hartis via Paste Magazine
October is a great month for both craft beer and horror films, and unsurprisingly the two go great together. But how best to pair them? Many beers display monsters, zombies, ghosts and ghouls right on the labels. Some, like Great Lakes Brewing Co.'s Nosferatu, Two Road's Brewing Co.'s Roadsmary's Baby and Full Pint Brewing's Night of the Living Stout even allude to iconic horror films. While these are great beers, their names alone do not instantly qualify them as the best possible pairings. Let's stroll past this low-hanging fruit in favor of finding beers that better match horror flicks both new and old.

Pumpkin Beer Bread Pudding
By: Ashley at Quarter Life Crisis Cuisine
INGREDIENTS
1 loaf pumpkin beer bread, cubed (I tore mine by hand, you can slice for a prettier presentation)
1 can organic pumpkin puree (or 12 oz of homemade)
3 tbs butter, melted
1 large apple, cubes
5 eggs
2 cups milk
2/3 cup sugar
1 heaping tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp vanilla extract
caramel sauce (optional topping)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter or grease a square baking dish, or a casserole dish as I have here.
Toss bread with melted butter, set aside.
Whisk together pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined. Toss with bread and apple chunks, and pour into baking dish.
Bake for 45 minutes, or until set. The pudding should be moist but spring back when poked. Drizzle with caramel.
Enjoy!
