There's Coffee in My Beer
Fall is officially here and with that means new seasonal beers! A very popular style of beer these days includes the addition of coffee, typically in Porters and Stouts, which are great for Fall. Its actually a perfect combination when you think about the characteristics of the darker beers to coffee: roasted, bitterness, and chocolate. Dark roasted malts usually have their own flavors and aromas of coffee, but the addition of coffee to the beer results in an strong and pungent, almost espresso like, quality. Some brewers add milk sugar for a slight sweet creaminess to make the brew seem more like your morning cup of joe. Some brewers simply infuse coffee in order to heighten and showcase the coffee notes of the beer without the coffee being mixed in during the brew.
There are a lot of options out there if you are in the pursuit of a beer with a kick of caffeine, we just don't recommend replacing your morning latte with a beer. A few to try: Founders Breakfast Stout, Stone Xocoveza Mocha Stout, Stone Coffee Milk Stout, and Breckenridge Nitro Vanilla Porter. You may even want to make your own blend with Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Porter with Breckenridge Nitro Vanilla. Mmmm. Also, be on the look out at your local brewery for seasonal coffee infused options. Cheers!

Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that's just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

Stone Xocoveza Mocha Stout
This year's winner of our American Homebrewers Association-sanctioned homebrewing competition, Chris Banker, helped keep us grounded to our homebrewing roots by introducing flavors consistent with our regional palate. The 15 Fall Seasonal Beers You Should Be Drinking
By: Zach Mack via Thrillist.com
Congratulations! Despite alarmingly aggressive back-sweat, you survived yet another summer, and light session beers are finally giving way to the heavier, spicier stuff that's only drinkable during the months when you're forced to awkwardly Google "how to wear scarves for men". I picked some of my favorite beers only available around autumn.
Drink up, because you'll be Googling "how to deal with winter coat back-sweat" before you know it.

Starbucks is Testing a Beer Flavored Latte
By: Gail Sullivan via Washington Post
At Starbucks, gimmicky drinks are all the rage. For example, people like the company's pumpkin spice latte.
But Starbucks is going beyond Halloween-themed beverages and offering lattes that taste like beer. Get ready, Ohio and Florida - you are the test market for beer-flavored drink called the "Dark Barrel Latte." Starbucks confirmed its plans with the Associated Press.
The drink's "savory toasty malt" flavor is meant to be reminiscent of a stout. But rather than the thick creamy head you'd get on a Guinness, the Starbucks drink comes with caramel and whipped cream on top. It also incorporates a "chocolatey stout flavored sauce," spokesman Linda Mills told the AP. However, it doesn't contain any alcohol.

Valar Morghulis: Drinking to Arya Stark
By: Matt Allyn via Men's Journal
The fifth season of the Game of Thrones is some seven months away, but at least we can still drink to our favorite HBO series with Ommegang Brewery's latest Game of Thrones-themed beer, a Belgian dubbel called Valar Morghulis, that hits shelves on October 1. Brewed in collaboration with HBO, the name and style were picked by fans over three other options: Seven Kingdoms, a tripel style, and two quadruples called Khal and Hand of the King. The winner, unsurprisingly, eludes to the phrase spoken by fan favorite Arya Stark, that translates to "all men must die." A picture of Arya's two-headed coin - splattered in blood - appears on the label.
