Goal!: Bringing the World Together Again Two things in life bring people around the world together like no other: Sports and Beer. While you get together with your friends this year for the World Cup, take a moment to enjoy a beer from the country that you're watching and deeply reflect on what makes that beer so unique to that part of the world. Soccer fans are just as passionate about their beer as they are about their Futbol. Some things to ponder while knocking back a hand crafted import: Where did your beer come from? What are the people like there? When will the ball get out of the middle of the field? Who is the brew master? Do I want to order nachos or wings? Is the ball still in the middle of the field? Where ever your brain may wonder while the ball is (STILL!) in the middle of the field, there are plenty of brews to keep you occupied. Team USA Patriots: Head over to your local brewery or grab a classic California style IPA and cheers your fellow 'Mericans. (USA! USA!) If your allegiances lie overseas, you have so many options to choose from: Whether it be hoppy and refreshing English Pale Ale or a malty and spicy Belgian Dubbel with hints of fruit, there is a beer for you and your current favorite team. Except for France. They have wine and we don't do that here. USA! USA!

Beer is best when it's fresh. This is what we've had drilled into our heads for years thanks to commercials about labels with "born on" dates and tales of beers that skunked after spending too long in the garage.
While "fresher is better" holds true for about 99 percent of the beers out there, there are a select few that age like fine wine. Putting these beers away in a dark, cool place for six months to six years can yield wonderful results. Patrick Dawson wrote the book on aging beer, and he says choosing the right beer to cellar comes down to what he calls "the three Ss."
"Any beer you want to age should be strong, sour or smoked," Dawson told TODAY.com. Dawson says that elevated alcohol content, the acidity from a sour beer, or the phenols that give a smoked beer its character all act as preservatives, giving a beer time to develop new and interesting flavors while warding off the nasty tastes that can creep in when a beer sits for too long.

With the skyrocketing popularity of craft beers, it was only a matter of time before the cruise industry jumped on to this trend. Whether you crave a hop infused IPA or creamy stout, there's no better place to appreciate your favorite brew than on the open seas.
These cruises have special presentations, onboard tastings and excursions to local breweries. We'll drink to that.

Pitbull And Jimmy Fallon Play 'Giant Duff Beer Pong' In Tight Pants
By: Bill Bradley
Pitbull may have performed live at the World Cup, but now he's all about the Red Solo Cup.
For "The Tonight Show's" last day at Universal Orlando, Jimmy Fallon challenged Mr. Worldwide to a game of "Giant Duff Beer Pong" outside of Moe's Tavern. The game comes complete with ginormous plastic cups, soccer balls to throw in them and more Duff Beer than Homer Simpson could ever imagine.
Normally, when things heat up in Florida, the clothes get shorter, but in this case, the pants just get tighter.

Cowboy Rubbed Rib Eye with Chocolate Stout Pan Sauce
By: Food 52
INGREDIENTS:
1 Nice, thick rib eye, 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick, big enough for two
1 tablespoon ground coffee
2 tablespoons kosher salt (we used Diamond Crystal -- you may want to reduce the salt to taste, especially if using Morton's Kosher or other finer salt, see comments)
2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon coarse ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes (preferably Ancho chile)
1 cup chocolate stout (you'll have to drink the rest)
½ cup beef stock
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 sprig thyme
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (if you are the type to save bacon fat, by all means use it!)
DIRECTIONS:
Mix the coffee, salt, paprika, peppers & cumin together and toast lightly in pan until fragrant (alternatively you can toast whole spices then grind). Mix the spices with the sugar to make the rub.
Spread the rub all over the steak and let sit for awhile, if you do it the night before you'll have stronger flavor but if you do it right before serving it'll be good, too. (If you pre-rub and set it in the fridge, be sure to bring it up to room temperature before searing, so you do not shock the meat.)
Heat a cast iron pan until it's really really hot -- a drop of water flicked into the pan should sizzle and bounce.
Add vegetable oil, wait a few seconds until the oil heats up, then place the steak in the pan. It should sizzle; leave it there, do not touch it at all for 3-4 minutes. It should be browning on the bottom. Then place it under a hot broiler and broil to medium rare or desired doneness.
Remove the steak and let rest on a warm plate, cover with aluminum foil.
Add the thyme sprig to the pan and let it saute a bit till it gets nice and fragrant. Pour in the chocolate stout and deglaze the pan. Add the beef broth, whisk together and reduce by half over medium heat.
Remove the thyme sprig and whisk in the butter. Season to taste.
Slice the steak on the bias and drizzle the sauce over top. This is YUMMY with creamed spinach and hash browns or baked potato and a nice big salad.
