August 16, 2013

And so it begins.....Founders Brewing, perennially ranked as a Top 5, if not higher brewery, on any website or list of the Top Breweries in America, is hitting Florida this Monday! I'm not talking about just one brand in just one little area of the state either. I'm talking about all the core brands including Centennial IPA, Pale Ale, Dirty Bastard, Porter and All Day IPA in draft and in bottles available across the ENTIRE state. Not to mention Red's Rye....which is one of their limited seasonal beers in bottles will be available as well. This isn't big...IT IS HUGE! Never heard of Founder's....been living in hole under a bar somewhere? What is Founder's all about? Let me fill you in:

"The Founders Family, a group of passionate beer enthusiasts, has grown around this simple philosophy: "We don't brew beer for the masses. Instead, our beers are crafted for a chosen few, a small cadre of renegades and rebels who enjoy a beer that pushes the limits of what is commonly accepted as taste. In short, we make beer for people like us.

We at Founders Brewing Co. have been lucky to evolve into one of the highest recognized breweries in the United States. We have been ranked in the top four breweries in the world by Ratebeer.com for the past four years in a row (4th in 2010, 2nd in 2011 and 2012, 3rd in 2013), and we have several beers listed in the top one hundred beers of the world on Beeradvocate.com. We were the winner of four medals at the 2010 World Beer Cup, two medals at the 2010 Great American Beer Festival, and one medal at the 2012 World Beer Cup."

And now you too will get to experience and enjoy Founders at your local watering hole, your favorite craft beer bar, and your home! But first let's talk a little bit about next week....as we launch this brand into all areas of the market, we have some pretty great events planned to give you the opportunity to sample and drink these beers first hand. For those that are in Miami on Tuesday, August 20, we will be at Wood Tavern in Wynwood. Wood Tavern will have the complete core brand line up and will start tapping those kegs at 7 p.m. On Wednesday, August 21, we will launch in Broward county at Tap 42, where we will be featuring all the core beers as well as a few special beers that Founders has put aside just for us. Then on Thursday (we didn't forget that we have a lot of craft beer drinkers up in the 561) come out to the Brass Tap where all the Founders beer will be featured on draft and even some more of these special release beers. Of course there will be some Founders POS giveaways... but you aren't coming out for that are you? You are coming to enjoy some of the best beer being brewed in the USA today!

See you out there!!

BEER NEWS
By: Keith Gribbins

Like many old beer stories, porters and stouts have a hazy history together. Today, American craft brewers produce both stouts and porters, marketed and sold as individual styles and flavors, but what exactly are the differences in these two seemingly similar beers? Is a porter just a lighter, sweeter stout? Is a stout just a stronger porter? Is it all about roasted barley? Is it all about chocolate malts? What is the difference between porter and stout?

The first time Dogfish Head had some major television exposure, it was for its short-lived 2010 documentary series "Brew Masters" on the Discovery Channel.

Next time, it could be the backdrop for a prime-time family sitcom on network TV with characters based on the real-life Dogfish founders, Sam and Mariah Calagione, and their two children, Sammy, 13, and Grier, 11.

WASHINGTON - Special delivery from the post office - beer, wine and spirits, if Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe has his way.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Donahoe said Thursday delivery of alcoholic beverages is on his wish list as the agency considers ways to raise revenue and save money after losing $16 billion last year. He also said he endorses ending most door-to-door and Saturday mail deliveries as a way to help stabilize the service's finances.
