Summer is over! Can you believe it? It's the first couple of days of August and the cool winds of fall are just starting to blow through. The leaves are starting to change and I can smell the apple pie cooling in the window. Wait a second! Is this a dream? Pumpkin beers are already on the shelf?? No really is this happening?? Rub your eyes and the Oktoberfest will be there soon as well. It seems every year the fall seasonal beers roll in earlier and earlier.
So just when you think you are into the middle of Summer...it is suddenly your last chance to pickup that sixer of Shipyard Summer, Victory Summer Love, Dogfish Head Festina Peche, Magic Hat Elderbetty, Shiner Ruby Redbird, Woodchuck Summer, and all the other thirst-quenching, lip-smacking summer ales and lagers out in the market. You've got to stock up now and horde those summer beers for the rest of the doldrum months because the Fall beers are rolling in. No time like the present! So get 'em while you can and get ready for the fall season 'cause it really is just around the corner...not just in your dreams.

We've been keeping track of the burgeoning session IPA trend for a few years now-we named Drake's Alpha Session one of our Top 25 Beers of 2012-but I think it's pretty safe to say that, at this point, the movement is in full-on trend mode. The only problem: For some, the name is a bit confusing.

Moments before sitting down at home to write this, I popped open a beer - the deliciously malty Coloma Brown by American River Brewing Co. in Rancho Cordova - and poured it into a tall glass, admiring the toffee-colored foam as it climbed to the rim.
It made me think: This beer experience would be much better shared.

It should come as no surprise that craft beer is the centerpiece of director Joe Swanberg's new romantic dramedy "Drinking Buddies," because the man is a massive beer geek.
The film stars Olivia Wilde ("TRON: Legacy") and Jake Johnson (Fox's "The New Girl") as a pair of coworkers at a Chicago brewery who are drawn to each other despite being in relationships with other people. It also stars craft beer. Lots and lots of craft beer.
