You can't mow your lawn in a Hurricane, but you can drink beer.

Hurricane season in Florida: that rainy, humid, stormy weather season that we get for four months; that "I don't want to walk out in the rain, but I really want to grab a beer" season; that "it says hurricane warning, but it's beautiful outside" season. Hurricanes are erratic, but we're used to it. One thing we all have learned is to stock up on beer and snacks at home in the summer. I would rather stay inside and listen to the rain with my beer than risking the driving and walking trip to the bar when it's pouring outside.

So now's the time to stock up that beer fridge with all different beer styles so you don't get bored of drinking the same thing at home. You can buy whole cases of beer at some stores or pick out one of everything and make your own 6-packs. Appreciate those local brews at this time too because they're brewing the beer for you in the hurricane season, aaaand most likely drinking it too.

Cheers,

Wits are conventionally brewed with noble hops, pale malt, unmalted wheat, orange peel, and coriander. We have made this beer our own by adding other unique spices to create complex aromatics, a refreshing taste, and a crisp finish. Light in color with a smooth body, Razor Wit is perfect for hot summer days and sultry summer nights. 4.5% ABV
Innis and Gunn Canadian Cherrywood Aged

Fort Collins Hoptitude Imperial Extra Pale Ale

Hoptitude has an aromatic orange rind nose courtesy of a late addition of Pacifica hops from New Zealand, a bready malt backbone, a refreshing hop flavor reminiscent of dry grapefruit, and a palate cleansing finish. 7.5% ABV
Stoudts Heifer-in-Wheat
This Bavarian-style unfiltered wheat beer is brewed with 50% malted barley and 50% malted wheat. Our signature blend of German yeast strains imparts a flavor and aroma reminiscent of bananas, cloves, and bubblegum. Traditionally, weizen beers feature a medium body and high level of spritzy carbonation, and are served as a thirst quencher or sometimes a breakfast beer in the summer. 5.0% ABV
Left Hand St. Vrain Tripel Ale
Vrain River snakes out of the Rocky Mountains, winding mischievously towards our brewery. Named after Ceran St. Vrain, an 1800's trapper and trader in the valley, St. Vrain is our version of a classic Belgian Tripel. Light in color and lightly hopped using Celeia hops, a touch of malt sweetness contrasts the warm spiciness hidden within. What at first appears benevolent can manifest into a mighty serpent in waiting. 9.3% ABV
Look out for new and returning favorites like Boulder Kinda Blue, Harpoon Summer Ale, Cigar City Cubano Espresso, and 7venth Sun Red D'or.

BEER NEWS
Boy band Hanson created an original craft beer called--yes--Mmmhops
By: Guide Live Group

Big news in the world of '90s boy bands making millennial comebacks: The trio of Tulsa-born Hanson brothers is breaking into craft beer culture with an original brew called, wait for it ... Mmmhops!

The beer's namesake song "MMMbop," released in 1996 (that's almost 20 years ago), was recently featured in The Hangover III, and folks at the Rio de Janeiro movie premiere celebrated with the first taste of sonically-inspired suds, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. The beer is slated for release this fall in conjunction with a Hanson tour (uhh...) to promote a new album entitledAnthem (hmmm...). They'll be rocking the stage at House of Blues in Dallas on September 16.

Until Mmmhops is available, those made giddy by the news can buy souvenir T-shirts and pint glasses. All proceeds from sales will go to the Red Cross to help with disaster relief efforts in Hanson's home state. An F5 tornado ripped through Moore, practically leveling the town.

Savoring the Principles of Craft Beer and Food Pairings
By: Julia Herz

It's not uncommon to walk into a fine dining establishment and see a wine list as thick as the dictionary, along with suggested food pairings. But it's important to point out that wine isn't the only beverage advancing the food arts world. As demand for craft brewed beer from small and independent brewers continues to grow, so does the desire from beer lovers to have great pairing options and a varied array of selections at these kinds of establishments.

Craft beer and food work just as well, if not better, than food and wine. Crazy? Think again. Because of beer's broad range of flavors, elements, sensations and intensities, it provides both complementary and contrasting interactions that mesh with nearly any kind of food, whereas wine mostly contrasts against food when paired.

But before putting craft beer and food together, it's helpful to keep these basic pairing practices in mind.

Bacon, Blue Cheese and Beer Potato Salad
By: Intoxicating Eats

Difficulty: Easy

Bacon. Blue cheese. Beer. Potatoes. These ingredients don't just go together--they belong together.

Ingredients:

- 2.5 to 3 lbs potatoes (red preferably)
- 6 slices bacon
- 4 scallions or spring onions
- 1/2 cup Pale Ale
- 2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
- 2 tsp. spicy brown mustard
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- Hot Sauce
- Salt and Pepper
- 1 cup blue cheese

Directions:
Wash potatoes and chop in bite size pieces.

Place in a pot and cover with cold water.

Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are fork tender.

While you are waiting for the potatoes to come to a boil, cook the bacon and let cool.

Chop your onion (use whites and greens) and bacon.

In the bottom of your serving bowl, combine beer, mayonnaise, mustard, garlic powder, and add hot sauce, salt and pepper to taste.

When potatoes are done, drain and add the beer mixture.

Add onions, bacon and blue cheese.

Combine and serve.
