Happy 40th Anniversary
1976 Spartan Boys World Championship
Henley Royal Regatta Crew Team

40 years ago a small, private catholic school in New Jersey made history. A group of nine schoolboy rowers won the Princess Elizabeth Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in England. They were World Champions, and their lives became forever changed. Years later, in 2007, Rowing Magazine declared this boat as "one of the seven best boys eights EVER in the high school/junior category".  In 2013, the team, along with their legendary coach Stan Bergman, were inducted into the Holy Spirit High School Hall of Fame.

This victory is just one chapter of the proud tradition of Holy Spirit Rowing. In 1974 and 1981, the program produced two more boats that hold this World Champion status. In the years that have followed, Holy Spirit Boys and Girls Crew Teams have had successes too many to list.

Since their inception, Holy Spirit Boys & Girls Crew have put forth countless boats that have won on the local, county, state and national levels. There have been Olympians, as well as National Team oarsmen.  The name of Holy Spirit Crew and the training provided by its outstanding coaches is recognized across the country among top college and university rowing programs.

Alumni have been awarded scholarships to such outstanding colleges and universities including Harvard, Yale, The Naval Academy, Old Dominion, Princeton, Dartmouth, Marietta, Brown, LaSalle, Tulsa, Louisville, University of Pennsylvania, Northeastern University, Temple, Boston University, Jacksonville, Saint Joseph's, Drexel, and more!

And the tradition continues today. At Holy Spirit, the sport of rowing remains open to all who dare to walk through the door of personal challenge. No experience is needed - just a personal deposit of heart, dedication, and a willingness to succeed.

The same individual and team satisfaction found in that magical boat of 40 years ago, as well as countless girls and boys boats since, will return a rower superior physical and mental conditioning, character development, leadership skills, the ability to work with a team, and of course, another chance to make history.
