For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me. Truly I say to you,to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' - Matthew 25:34,40

Wednesday, September 23rd
Pope Francis has provided us with an already amazing day and it's not finished. His visit to the White House, parade down the National Mall, and Mass with the Bishops will be followed soon by the Papal Mass and Canonization at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on the campus of the Catholic University of America.

IN THE CLASSROOM AT HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Father often refers to the scripture from Matthew above in his message of Love & Mercy. In Father Jamie King's sophomore religion class, students are reminded that while we often refer to this as the Pope's message, it is truly Jesus' message to us for love and mercy.

Pope Francis said, "The church is not following my message - I'm following the church's message". As we feel the excitement in all of the activities of the Pope's presence in the United States, we remember his call is in delivering the message of Jesus Christ.

Let's all be more intentional in our efforts to extend food to the hungry, welcome to a stranger, care for the lonely and isolated, and clothing for those in need as Jesus calls us to do.
