March News From TriColumbia

  Greetings!

TriColumbia logo It's Mid March and race season is right around the corner. We  have a terrific line up of races on tap for all ability levels, and look forward to welcoming you to the finish line!

We're mixing it up this year with new courses for the Athleta Iron Girl Half Marathon, and the bike leg of the Celebrating Heroes Triathlon and the Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon. Plus we've added a brand new event, The Rocky Gap Triathlon on June 1st, offering both an International and a Sprint distance event.  The Sprint features super short distances, and is a wonderful first event for those looking to "tri" out the sport...and until April 1st, Early Bird rates of up to $50.00 off make the Rocky Gap Triathlon an event not to be missed!

At TriColumbia, we love to hear athletes' personal stories. Often participants become involved in endurance events as a way to overcome an obstacle, cope with a loss, provide a role model, forward a cause, or as a way to change their lives for the better. Why did you become involved? Where do you find your strength to compete? Do you race for a cause? How has your participation in endurance events changed your life? If you would like to share your story and inspire others, please send us an email with your inspirational story. We want to hear from you!

Celebrate Life!

Are You In For The 30th Columbia Triathlon?

Columbia Triathlon 2012 logo The 2013 Columbia Triathlon is still open for registration. Have you reserved your spot?  Join us in celebrating TriColumbia's hallmark event, and one of the most challenging and longest running triathlons in the USA.  2013 will mark the our 30th year. Attracting world-class pros and amateurs from across the country and across the world, this widely acclaimed Olympic distance race had its beginnings in 1984 when 90 triathlon enthusiasts competed.

We're pleased to announce that this year's event will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Maryland Chapter. "We are honored and humbled to be included as the charity partner for one of the most prestigious triathlons on the East Coast," said Ryan Hatcher, Campaign Director for Team In Training. "TriColumbia is a top notch endurance event organization that provides a vehicle for us to raise much needed funds for the fight against blood cancer. In 2012 alone, Team In Training participants raised more than $140,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society while training for and competing in TriColumbia events. These dollars really make a difference and we are grateful to TriColumbia for their support."

This year's Columbia Triathlon will once again be a 5150 qualifying event. The top 15 in each age group will be invited to race at the 2013 5150 Hy-Vee U.S. Championship in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition, those finishing in the top 5 in each age group will be offered complementary entries into the 2013 5150 Hy-Vee U.S. Championship.

In addition, we've added an all new Triathlon Club Challenge, allowing Triathlon Clubs to compete for an award and bragging rights as the Top Triathlon Club.

The Columbia Triathlon is almost full. Don't delay; sign up today for this classic!

Gatorade

Gatorade Train with what's on the course!

Gatorade Endurance Formula is a specialized sports drink designed to sustain hydration during prolonged training and racing when fluid and electrolyte losses can be significant and will be served along the insert event name course. It contains nearly twice the sodium (200mg) and more than three times the potassium (90mg) of Gatorade Thirst Quencher to help sustain hydration, maintain proper fluid balance and replace the critical electrolytes lost in sweat during these occasions.
