What is one of the greatest accomplishments you and/or your company has done to help others in the community?
GVH: The Southwest District's mission is to partner with charities in order to promote awareness, enrich the lives of others, and strengthen the local communities in which we build. Kiewit sponsored the Charity Golf Classic in 2015 supporting the Dylan Earven Foundation and Phoenix Dream Center. We reached our goal of raising $75,000 for the two charities from 30 sponsoring companies and 139 golfers. Volunteers from Kiewit, the Dylan Earven Foundation and Phoenix Dream Center, 18 total, helped make the event a success.

Some of the other recent community activities in which we have participated include:
  • AZ Blood Drive - United Blood Services
  • AZ Food Drive - United Food Bank
  • AZ Christmas Angel - Salvation Army
What message would you say to folks to be successful in this industry?
GVH:  Stay true to your principles - to your core values: People. Integrity. Excellence. Stewardship. Kiewit's guiding principles are embodied in those four words, and our culture has thrived on these. Our values are the foundation for our success and longevity. We've always remained true to who we are. As our company has evolved and grown, our long-standing ideals have only become more important in running our business the right way.

What else would you like to share with the members of AZAGC?
GVH: At Kiewit, every client we work with and every project we work on is integrally important to us. With a strong local presence and access to a vast network of resources, we can quickly mobilize high-performing craft workforces and provide the best solutions and value for clients and projects. From the smallest jobs to multi-billion dollar projects, our resources and experience ensure clients receive the highest-quality, hands-on service they've come to expect.
