Sunland Asphalt President/CEO


Sunland Asphalt is a local company, founded in 1979, with offices in Phoenix, Tempe, and Tucson, AZ; Las Vegas, NV and Albuquerque, NM.  Sunland Asphalt performs work nationally as well. For over 37 years, Sunland Asphalt has been completing projects across the country, ranging from parking lot maintenance to major highways. Sunland has grown from an asphalt maintenance company into a full service general contractor offering an array of construction and maintenance services including asphalt repairs, crack sealing, sealcoating, chip seal, milling, pulverizing, reconstruction, paving, earthwork and grading, as well as underground wet utilities. With experienced team members, high quality materials and state-of-the-art equipment, we do what we say we'll do, when we say we'll do it.

What is one of the greatest accomplishments you and/or your company has done to help others in the community? 
DD: In partnership with Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun and the Community Housing Partnership, Sunland Asphalt donated paving materials and services to the Liberty Place project, installing a new driveway and parking structure for the residents at Liberty Place in downtown Phoenix.  The project at Liberty Place included the rehabilitation of eight housing units, serving as affordable housing for low-income veterans. Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun has been serving underprivileged areas around the Valley since 1991. Their mission is to engage community partners and volunteers in the rehabilitation of neighborhoods. Through home revitalization, they are able provide low-income seniors, veterans and disabled individuals with a safer, independent, comfortable standard of living.
 
Sunland Asphalt also participates in multiple charitable events annually including blood drives, food drives, adopting families for the holidays, as well as various volunteering opportunities.
What message would you say to folks to be successful in this industry?  
DD: Hire the right people and always stand by your word and by your work. Operate at the highest level of safety and quality in everything you do.
