J. Doug Pruitt to Chair Arizona We Want Infrastructure Committee

Congratulations to Doug Pruitt, former CEO of Sundt Construction, for his appointment as Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee for Arizona We Want.  Arizona We Want and the Center for the Future of Arizona have teamed up to evaluate what Arizonan citizens want for the state. According to the results of a Gallup Poll, Arizonans want mass transit systems that connect communities, new highways and roads that reduce congestion, improvements in airports and rail systems to support trade, and statewide high-speed broadband.  Arizona We Want will be meeting later this month to create a strategy that supports the citizens' response.

Governor Spotlights Infrastructure in State-of-the-State Address and Four Cornerstones of Reform

In her State-of-the-State Address, Governor Brewer said, "For Arizona to remain competitive on all fronts, we also cannot ignore transportation, water and other infrastructure demands. These are all paramount to creating jobs, attracting capital investment and ensuring a sustainable future." Read the entire Address.

The Governor augmented the State-of-the-State Address with her Four Cornerstones of Reform where she outlined the importance of the Transportation Trade Corridor Alliance (TTCA), Interstate-11 and the South Mountain Freeway project.

iArizona Takes Stand

According to this article in the Arizona Republic, Mesa Mayor Scott Smith will be heading to the legislature with other local elected officials and leaders to ask the legislature to restore funding for infrastructure.  iArizona is a consortium of civic and business leaders seeking to solve the state's infrastructure financial woes.  AZAGC is part of this coalition.

Andy Tobin and Chad Campbell Take Stand Too!

In a rare showing of bi-partisanship, Speaker Tobin and Minority Leader Chad Campbell co-signed a letter last week asking the governor to "...fully restore HURF funding for fiscal years 2015 and 2016." Read the full letter.
