A few changes for next year...
As a school we are always assessing ourselves: What went really well? What could use some changes? Some areas that have been brought to us...
  • Teachers need to be accessible for students. With some teachers coaching and students participating in athletics, after school help sometimes becomes  problematic.
  • The dress code is complicated and difficult to remember all the details (what is and isn't allow...and on what days)
  • More academic offerings. What additionally can be made available so that students are ready for college?
  • More technology. How can technology be utilized without becoming a distraction or a barrier to learning?

So we are addressing a few things ...

We are adjusting Wednesday's schedule to a late start. School will begin at 9:00 am with chapel followed by a schedule that will accommodate all the classes.

  • 2015/2106 school handbook will be published shortly with detailed schedule
  • there will be supervision provided for parents that need to drop off students early
  • teachers will be accessible for help before school
  • when needed, parent conferences, student meetings, or faculty meetings can be better served at this time

Dress code has been clarified and simplified.

  • A "quick reference sheet" is available that simplifies what is allowed on school uniform days.
  • An easy reference: If it is on the list, it is allowed or required. If it is not on the list, it is not allowed.

Dual Enrollment for college credit is available.

  • partnership with Truett-McConnell College offering 24 college credits through six course sin history, English, and Spanish.
  • a variety of AP courses are offered as well
  • more information in on our website

Our electronics policy is being adjusted to make technology "work" for school.

  • cell phone and mp3 policy is being clarified to make it more workable for school
  • we are exploring STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics program) this next year with a desire for implementation in the 2016/2017 school year.

This year, Dominion Christian Schools is pleased to announce the opportunity for students to earn college credit through our Dual Enrollment program.
