Workman Sets All-Time Hits Mark in 4-2 Bears Win

MACON, Ga. - Senior Derrick Workman (DCS, '10) broke the program record for most hits in a career to highlight the No. 24 Mercer baseball team's 4-2 Atlantic Sun Conference series opening win over Stetson on Friday evening at Claude Smith Field.

Workman made history just an inning later when he singled through the right side of the Stetson infield on the very first pitch of his at-bat to set the all-time Mercer hits record. Workman and Tim Smith had been tied with 264 career hits, but Workman's single in the bottom of the second pushed him past Smith and into sole possession of the record that had stood since the end of the 1983 season.

College Signings

KNIGHTS SIGN TO TWO MORE SCHOOLS!

The Dominion Christian Knights just signed two more athletes to play college sports bringing our yearly total to seven!   That is an impressive number in itself, but when one considers the size of the high school it is staggering!

Nick Carr signed to play football for Berry College.  Nick is 2013 grad who, despite the fact had a number of schools interested in him playing for them, he took the year off from playing sports.  Nick realized that after being away from the game a year that his passion for the game was still burning.  GOD definitely had a hand in Nick's decision to play, because every school that expressed interest a year ago was just as interest if not more so.  Nick ended his career at Dominion Christian as one of its top "5" career leaders in receiving yards, tackles, kick returns, and all-purpose yards.

Donavan Ellison has committed to run for the Memphis Tigers.  Donavan set the season on fire with his performances in the 100 meters - 10.78, 200 meters - 22.44 and 400 meters - 50.95. Donavan re-wrote the Dominion Christian Sprinting Record Book making him the most "prolific" sprinter in school history!  Donavan earned All-Region & All-State honors including the State Champion title in the 100 meters and 200 meters.  Donavan finished State Runner-Up in the 400 meters.

What a year it has been for Dominion Christian Athletics! Testimony First!!!

GOD honors our efforts and commitment - "A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men."  - Proverbs 18:16
