The Countdown is on...
Our annual "All School Retreat" is four weeks away. We are fast approaching our time annual time at Sharp Top Cove! October 2-4 will be here soon, so we wanted to let you know what to expect, particularly for our new families! We take this retreat each year with a goal of creating community within DCS as well as setting up our year with a time of worship and spiritual growth. For many students this is one of their fondest memories here at DCS. We leave the text books, homework, and city limit signs behind and focus on strengthening, building and creating relationships that often last for life. Tom Gray This year we are fortunate to have Tom Gray speak this year to our high school students. Tom is the Senior Pastor of Mars Hill Community Church in Powder Springs, GA. Tom is no stranger to Dominion having spoken to our students on several occasions in chapels. Chad Cannon Chad Cannon will once again speak to our middle school students. Chad currently spends his time speaking at camps, retreats, churches and schools. We will also have our praise band lead us into worship. We have three sessions with our speakers and worship teams. Sharptop Cove We stay at Sharptop Cove in Jasper, Georgia. This is a beautiful Young Life camp facility. Our kids will stay in lodges where they will have bunk beds and nice shower and bathroom facilities. They will be grouped in those lodges by grade level. Our teachers, staff and administration will stay with the students, so they are always chaperoned. The food is prepared by the Youth Life chefs and is incredible! Your student will not come home hungry! Activities Along with our great speakers and worship, we give the kid's supervised free time to use the facilities of Sharptop Cove. Also, planned class activities are organized using fun games to get everyone involved! Timing You will bring luggage and bed items (more on that later) on Wednesday morning, October 2. The students will be taken on large coach buses up to Sharptop Cove on Wednesday, early afternoon. We will return home mid/late morning on Friday. We will have no additional school on Friday.
