Weekly Thoughts From The Pastor

Fr. Burt Absalon

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

It's so wonderful to receive quite a few compliments from you, the parishioners, on how well our celebration of the Holy Week and Easter turned out. Thank you for your most kind words.  Your encouragement made your priests and Deacons feel that it was worth all the hard work.

However, we couldn't have done it all by ourselves as you already know. We are the ones in action before everyone to see. But there were dedicated parishioners who worked behind the scenes to get things done. Next to God, words of thanks are owed them. Thus, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those kind people whose names are too numerous to even mention here.  At any rate, I can't help but single out a few for their outstanding roles in Holy Week and Easter celebration. I beg the forgiveness of anyone that I may have forgotten:  Jenny  Dwyer for coordinating the liturgy and the sound system in the gym; Alice Howell, Bob Howell, Carol White and Judy Woodson for the lovely decorations for Easter in the auditorium, church and gym and all the changing of draping during Holy week; Pam Pecoraro who helped to customize the draping and altar decorations; Pat Ritzman for gathering the many items needed for Masses in the gym; Bob Kovarik, Ken Mokry and Michael Hanlon for setting up the altars and chairs in the auditorium and gym; Imelda Salgado for cleaning the areas before they were set up and making them sparkle for Easter; Tim and Michelle Dwyer for helping to set up and take down the sound system in the gym; Joni Ring and Zach Lenart for putting together the programs for Easter in the gym; Carol White for coordinating the blessing and distributing of Palms on Palm Sunday; Knights  of Columbus for providing the canopy and the escort for Holy Thursday's procession; Adalia Popoca, Bill and Diane Johnston for organizing and coordinating the sacraments at the Easter Vigil; Larry Herff for volunteering to photograph the Easter Vigil; Mary Prestipino for singing and playing the Easter Masses in the gym and last but not least Barb Klein for hours of playing for the different celebrations. We always appreciate the cantors, lectors, extraordinary ministers, Mass coordinators  and ushers  as well. We could not have Mass without these dedicated volunteers but we appreciate them each week for their roles. May the Lord in His love and mercy bless these people for their generous spirit and for their great love for the Church.

May the Lord in His love and mercy bless you all.

Sincerely Yours In Christ,
