The largest building project in the 140-year history of UW-River Falls moved one step closer to reality with a groundbreaking ceremony May 2. Phase 1 of construction of the Falcon Center is set to begin in July with site improvements including artificial turf at Ramer Field, construction of a new press box/stadium at Ramer Field, and additional parking stalls, among other projects. Occupancy of the Falcon Center is planned for early 2017. Read more.

With more than 15 years of economic development leadership experience, UWRF alumna Trisha Braun ('97, business administration) was recently named Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation's vice president of Economic and Community Development.

UWRF's Homecoming and Family Day have been set for the same weekend (Oct. 3-4) this year making for a special community celebration for students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff. Four alumni are the recipients of UWRF awards, including two new recognitions: Physics Professor Earl Blodgett was named the 2014 Distinguished Teacher, 3M executive Julie Bushman was named the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus, Attorney Max Neuhaus is the first recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award, and Dr. Brian Fife is the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The newly created UW-River Falls Center for Innovation and Business Development (CIBD) and the relocated Small Business Development Center (SBDC) have opened their doors at the repurposed River Falls Municipal Power Plant, 401 S. Winter St., just blocks from UWRF.
