Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute

Are you Ready for a

Peak Educational Experience?

New Programs Starting This Month!

 Greetings!

The opportunity to gather together in the classroom environment is an opportunity for tremendous growth and change. When we gather as a group with a shared intention for healing, personal and vocational development our individual efforts are amplified greatly. Our 250, 550 and 1000 hour programs allow students to dive deeply into the mechanics of how our body works and experience the healing process directly through the reciprocal exchange of bodywork and self applied essential methods. Within  a matter of weeks,  our students begin to report some remarkable shifts and changes  in their bodies and lives as well as those of their practice clients. Long after graduation students continue to report back how their lives have changed in remarkable ways as they apply what they have learned to their family, friends, and clients.

I invite you to consider what is possible in your own body and life through: gathering with like minded peers, engaging in reciprocal bodywork exchange, activating your own mechanisms of self healing, expanding your understanding of the body and building a successful bodywork practice.

What Students Are Saying...

About Our Upcoming Modalities, Instructors and Programs:

"This is the best Program ever! I have two Masters, two BA's, teaching credentials for grade school and college and a Masters in Psychology. This is the best education I have ever been in- in terms of the teacher's excellence and the program content. It's a perfect program. It's a peak educational experience. At 66+, I've saved the best for last. I am semi-retired, but I love this work so much I want to integrate bodywork with my psychology practice."

--Pam Rousseau, 550 hour student

"I have been sharing with my husband everything we have learned in class- the nutrition and the reflexology. He has been writing everything down that he eats and making a few shifts in his diet and I have been practicing Reflexology on him daily. He has already lost 6 pounds. Last weekend, after he played a full round of golf, he called me the foot voodoo doctor, cause he had no knee pain afterwards for the first time in years. He had knee surgery a year ago which did not change the pain in his knee, whereas since receiving Reflexology and Nutrition he has had no pain."

--Cathy Cudlip, 250 hour student (three weeks into her program, twice weekly)

"Matthew's depth and breadth of knowledge, sensitivity, skills, and giftedness are truly amazing. It is always a healing and relevetory experience to receive his work. He is also a wonderful and enthusiastic teacher. My experience in his Medical Qigong Program was life changing."

--Nancy Drake, 1000 hour HHP , and 500 hour Medical Qigong Grad

"Katie's Ethics class is an incredible experience. I thought it would be a dry repetition of information that I already knew. Instead, I experienced some life changing nuggets of wisdom, expertise and practical life skills. I have been using the skills taught in this class in many daily life interactions- in all areas of my life."

--Darya Bronston, Practicing Massage Therapist

"Shiatsu has really diversified my approach to bodywork, allowing me to tap into the more subtle and energetic - my hands acting as tools of perception. It has truly been a beautiful experience, both the giving and the receiving!"

--Linnea Villegas, 550 hr graduate, Practicing Massage Therapist

"My experience following the session was intense. The first few days I was very sore throughout my lower rib cage.  I had a strong pain in my ear, to the point that I almost felt like it was infected and that I needed to get it treated. Then it abated all of a sudden. The next day I woke up feeling really clear and with lots of energy. I ran on the beach for the first time in months and felt great."

~Ashley Vicenti, recovering from benzEne exposure/environmental illness,

commenting on her experience following last week's

Table Shiatsu session with Katie Mickey

"My menstral cramps come in the form of lower back ache. During my last period, Zack gave me a Shiatsu session to balance my liver and spleen circuits. He began with compression strokes on my back where I ached, but it wasn't until he got to the liver and spleen points on my legs that my cramps were relieved. That is when the ache stopped and it last for several days."

~Sierra Bingham, current SBBBTI 550 student and therapist

"After receiving a full hour Shiatsu session, I was so relaxed and in such a mellow state that I felt both aware, yet floating. Instead of my usual 7 mile freeway drive home, I took surface streets ...slowly...calmly...observing details of the city I usually don't notice. That sense of observant well being stayed with me for a very long time."

~Ron Buckley, current SBBTI 550 student and therapist

"About 12 hours after receiving the abdominal work in the Shiatsu session my body started eliminating. Since then my body eliminates after every meal almost instantly. When I shared with my girlfriends what was happening they all decided they wanted me to give them abdominal sessions. They are now also having elimination on a regular basis without the use of over the counter products. The Full Body Reflex work has also gotten me off my weight loss plateau. I am now on track with my goals and am losing about 2 pounds per week without dieting - just eating healthy regular meals."

~Eve Roma, current SBBTI 550 student and therapist

"My stomach had been bothering me for several years - like it wasn't in its proper place. I asked Katie to pull it down in class. The next day, after she pulled my stomach down, applied the liver pump and "mouse bites" to my intestines I had three days of more than usual activity that included elimination of old mucuous deposits from the intestinal walls and parasite-looking critters. It was a great relief.  It looked just the like the stuff that came out during my colonics - old stale stuff that needed to come out.   My belly is one of the bigger areas of pain in my body; now I feel much better and inspired to take more care of myself."

~Anonymous 550 student and therapist in SBBTI's Shiatsu clinic

"I usually include Shiatsu and Muscle testing in my sessions. I find it indispensable: it's a fast, effective way to get results."

~Lamar Bush, 1000 hr grad

"I feel stretched and relaxed. The organ release was a weird by good feeling. It's been three years since I've gotten a massage. I'm in a daze right now and it was awesome."

~Meagan Dart, commenting on Shiatsu session with Sierra Bingham
