Positional Release:
An Intro to Indirect Work
This 20 hour course will introduce students to basic principles of positional release and its techniques in indirect work. Indirect techniques employ the application of force away from a resistance barrier, i.e. into the direction of greatest ease. By placing pressure on the bones into the direction of greatest ease, tissues spontaneously relax and allowed for a normalization of structural alignment and function.
Students will learn Arthur Lincoln Pauls, D.O. work: The Technique and Philosophy of Positional Release. This modality introduces the use of a facilitating force (compression, torsion, etc.) to enhance the effect of the positioning. Pauls' work became Ortho-Bionomy™, a system of positional releases for the whole body, taught to non-osteopaths. This modality can be combined with most any medium of bodywork.
Each class will emphasize on a different part of the body, most notably, pelvis, ribs and neck. With each part of the body, the student will learn:
- Techniques and terms for Indirect Work and Positional Release
- Where indirect and direct work is needed
- How to integrate the releases into a session seamlessly
Positional Release with Robert Cutter Class: Sept 16 - Oct 7, (Tue) 9:00am - 1:00pm Clinic: Oct 14 (Tue) 9:00am - 1:00pm Regular Price: Reg Fee $28 Tuition $280 www.robertcutter.com

TuiNa II
Tui Na is an Oriental Bodywork Therapy that has been used in China for over 4,000 years. Tui Na uses the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of Qi (energy) through the meridians as its basic therapeutic orientation. For those who have experienced both acupressure and Shiatsu, a Tui Na session may seem like a cross between the two. Like Shiatsu, Tui Na uses rhythmic compression along energy channels of the body, as well as a variety of techniques to manipulate and lubricate the joints. Like acupressure, Tui Na directly affects the flow of energy by holding and pressing the body at acupressure points.

Emotional Process
"When we accept the unacceptable instead of pushing it away, we discover that the flip side of psychological pain is personal growth - and that our pain is simply our healing wanting to break through". Michael Brown (2008)
Emotional release during bodywork is not unusual and is actually a natural and beneficial part of the cleansing, rejuvenating process of massage. Traumatic life events happen to everyone and every day our bodies, brains, and minds are faced with dozens of micro- emotional impressions caused by fear, anger, sadness, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, and physical pain. When emotions and impulses are held in our bodies the flow of energy is restricted and as a result we experience either physical or mental discomfort. An integrated view of processing feelings through the body can allow for healing and inner peace.
Class: Aug 27 (Wed), Sep 3-10 (Mon, Wed) 5-10pm Reg Fee: $28 Tuition $280

Into to Craniosacral Therapy
This 30-hour course combines traditional craniosacral holds, peripheral nervous system balances and how to blend craniosacral palpation with classic bodywork modalities. We will examine how these holds serve as pivotal synchronizers of the body, allowing the therapist to first tap into the subtle ebb and flow of the craniosacral rhythm and then begin to assess and address acute and chronic issues using nervous system integration. Integrative Craniosacral Bodywork benefits the body's energy by expanding the traditional holds through touch of the peripheral nervous system to allow constant contact with the main hub (the cerebrospinal fluid and central nervous system). This approach teaches students to relax the cranial system from the coccyx to the head, incorporating techniques to bring the entire body into sync.
Class: Sep 9-30 (Tue, Thu) 5:309m-9:30pm Clinic: Oct 2 (Thu) 1:45-4:45pm Reg $42 Tuition $420

Reflexology & Stress Management
This 20-hour course offers reflex techniques for vitalizing the whole body with emphasis on restoring balance to the Bipolar Currents, Nervous and Endocrine Systems. Reflexology involves distal stimulation on the feet, hands or ears to release metabolic wastes that impede the nerve terminals in the tissues. The Nervous System may be likened to the electrical system of the body.
