Attending a bo
dywork class at SBBTI offers many gifts. As I drop into
our rich array of cla
sses offered within a given week, I am moved by the self esteem, peace a
nd ease expressed by our students. Though each student brings a unique set of
life experiences and qualitie
s to the classroom, what they share in commo
n i
s  harmonizing the body, mind and spirit through t
h
e practice of energy exercise and bodywork. These holistic practices woven throughout our curriculum provide a powerful catalyst
for positive life movement. T
his movement can ripple through many stuck places: be it physical hea
lth, personal dynamics,
interpersonal
relationships and success in the work place.

As we enter the final months of 2014, I am called to inform our grads and prospective students that the 250 hour minimum bar for State Certification is set to change in 2015. January 1st 2015, the minimum bar towards State Certification, will increase to 500 hours of training and a written exam issued by the State Board. State Certification is required by most municipalities to practice bodywork professionally. As State Certification is being adopted by more and more municipalities we have been approached by distressed bodyworkers requesting 50 hour intensive training's so they can continue to practice. Once the minimum bar is raised to 500 hours, the jump in hours required to qualify for State Certification gets much steeper. For our 200 hour grads or 250 grads who have yet to apply for State Certification that means 250- 300 additional hours of training. In addition to changing requirements for individual bodyworkers, many changes are occurring for Massage Schools within our State that may impact the varied curriculum we offer and diversity of our vocational school sector.

This summer /fall we are offering a great variety of short courses as well as our longer programs to satisfy State Certification requirements. If you are a 200 hour practicing bodyworker, I highly encourage you to join us for 50 additional hours of training. If you are a wanna be bodyworker, I encourage you to start your 250 hour program now, so that you can complete by December 31st, 2014.

 Attention SBBTI Community of Healers!
List on our new affiliates web page

We are in the process of creating a listing space for our Community of Healers. We want to provide a place for our SBBTI graduates and talent in the community to advertise their massage and healing services. Graduates of SBBTI programs can be listed for FREE!

If you are not an SBBTI graduate but are a part of Santa Barbara's Community of Healers, we would be happy to list your healing practice. We have well over 1,500 local visitors monthly on our page and many are looking for therapists. The rate is $50 for a one year listing. This fee helps to support our students and enables us to continue to offer you a wide variety of massage courses.

If you would like to be listed please send me an email or click on this link to connect with some info about yourself.

Include: Your Name, Business name, Title, License #, location if applicable, phone number, and web address if you have one, also a brief description of your healing practice, specialty and style of massage, one testimonial-optional, It would also be ideal if you could attach a photo of yourself, better for your business, but it is not required.

Blessings,
Ally Gomez
