Instructor: Katie Mickey, LMT, RPP, director of the Body Therapy Institute since 1989, has taught Reflexology to thousands of students within the Institute's many programs, as well as providing Reflexology training to Hospice nurses' aids and UCSB students. She received her training through the International Institute of Reflexology, Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine and the Institute for Holistic Healing. Her approach in the classroom is eclectic and dynamic, drawing from a variety of techniques and whole-brain learning methods......................Students share their thoughts on reflexology..................... "The cleansing aspect of this approach has been fantastic! I haven't had a stomachache in 3 days. Generally I get one at least once a day after I eat - I often have irritable bowel type symptoms. My elimination had been great. Also I haven't had my coffee in 3 days either. I haven't felt like I needed it. I am like a Red Bull queen. I work as a waitress at a fast paced restaurant where I need to be on. The benefits of the work are amazing- no coffee and no headache!" -Natalie Gier, recent student, commenting on her experience receiving Reflexology "I haven't had coffee all weekend and I've had no headache. I usually drink coffee 3 times a day and I get the jitters when I try to go off that hasn't happened. Instead I feel great." -Kaley Larson, recent student, commenting on her experience receiving Reflexology "For 3 days I've had this major knot in my back- kind of like the 800 lb gorilla when you are trying to live your life, and all you want to do is get rid of it. During the session the pain went from an 8 to a 3 when working on my feet. When working on my back it eased up even more. Then, back to my feet and it fully released the pain! It became like a remnant; it felt like fresh air moved through my system." -Kevin Gleason, massage client |
