 Greetings!

Greetings! May you be enjoying the blessings of May. This month we are offering some special new courses to support you in calling out blessings in your heart, your health, your work and your relationships.

The capacity to source blessings or uplift another, was a recent sermon topic at the Unitarian Church. It seems a fitting description of what arises when one offers essential touch or massage with an open heart. Blessing from this perspective is an opening of the heart, an empathic connection, a deep listening to the needs present in the tissues and subtle bodies of another and gifting of energy into that need.

Gifting energy through ones heart and hands can be an effortless process. A simple place to practice is to take a moment before eating, and draw one's attention to the space of one's heart, and relax one's arms and hands and direct the energy flow from one's heart into one's hands and food in appreciation for the nourishment.

Another great place to gift energy is in our relationships, taking some sacred space each day or week to gift one's partner or close friends with touch and caring attention. One comment we heard from partners in our recent Massage Lessons for Couples
, is that giving massage to their partner was previously exhausting. After learning simple shifts in body stance and  flowing energy, giving massage to their partner became easeful and satisfying.

Having a practice of flowing energy from one's heart through one's body, is skill-building for the challenging moments when our needs are not met and triggers arise. In our upcoming Emotional Process Skills course we will go in depth into these skills and how to support another's emotional process in the bodywork session as well as how to effectively work on yourself when heavy emotions arise.

Lastly, nature is a tremendous resource in the realm of blessing and upliftment. Retreating into nature as we do each Massage Practitioner Program offers profound opportunity to flow energy and enhance one's capacity for gifting energy. For all of us city folks, essential oils, offer the essence and healing capacity of nature in a bottle. Tomorrow evening we are offering a free Intro to Essential Oils, the precious blood of the plant and flower kingdom in a bottle. Essential oils, I consider an essential item in any holistic medicine cabinet and practicing massage therapists toolkit.

In gratitude for all the blessings that arise when we come together to flow energy, give and receive massage and assorted holistic health practices. We invite you to join us in the classroom and clinic. For more information, give us a call at 805 966-5802 or visit our beautiful new website www.sbbti.com.

May your month be filled with blessings. May peace and ease be with you in body, mind and spirit.

On the Path, Spreading Inner Light and Love to All

"I really enjoyed Swedish massage and am so ready to learn more. I am eternally grateful to the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute. I realize I am just scratching the surface with the skills I want to learn and bring to the massage table. I want to learn the best techniques that can help liberate people from suffering. With massage you are dealing with a very intimate level of trust. It takes motivation and a willingness for people to explore this level of healing in the body. The more I explore the healing in myself the more feel I have to offer."

Meet Danica Vega, this trimester's winner for the Massage Envy Student Scholarship and also our Student of the month. Awarded for her professionalism, willingness to be fully present, and being the most requested student therapist in April's student clinics. Danica is ready to make the profound impact that sharing a little love and kindness can have on the masses, reaching all that she encounters. I can attest that a feeling of peace and a smile are unavoidable in her presence.

"I remember hearing about the scholarship when I started the program and thinking that I would apply. It's great that Massage Envy and SBBTI have offered this to students and I was a little surprised that I got it. It really helps especially in Santa Barbara with the high cost of living."

"One of my favorite things about Swedish class was bonding with the group. I am an extrovert in one on one situations but very quiet in a group setting. The daily check-ins were great for me, forcing me to expand beyond my comfort zone. Now I actually enjoy a group setting with the sharing and questions that arise. It's an amazing way to learn and you can learn something from everyone"...........
