Greetings!
Greetings and Happy New Year! To all lovers of Massage and Healing Touch we extend a hearty Yahoo! What a grand adventure in healing,  aliveness, empowerment, income generation, and contribution to life we have shared. To all of you who seek something more alive in your experience in 2014, we extend a warm welcome!

Massage/Healing Touch is a tremendous vehicle for change and transformation for giver and receiver alike. Whether it be a melding big mitt; nurturing strokes; strumming plucks and kneads; focused acupressure or sustained fascial release; competent massage does the body "good", offers profound release of the mechanical mind and a portal to inner states of being.

For myself Massage/Healing Touch is most welcome when I am most in need or deepest resistance to what is showing up. In those moments, Massage/Healing Touch has brought me deep release, change and transformation in both the giving and receiving.

The capacity to give Massage/Healing Touch spans all ages,  learning capacities, body challenges and circumstance. Here at the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute we offer a unique curriculum that fosters whole brain learning, personal empowerment, and self healing practice. Our track record includes numerous grads who are successfully practicing massage and enjoying its benefits despite personal hurdles in circumstance.

We are delighted to say that there are some great funding sources now available to our students and that we offer flexible payment plans and schedules. I am also pleased to say we have partnered with employers in the community in placement opportunities. We invite you to learn more about your options and how to get started in 2014.  Visit our website www.sbbti.com, give us a call or make an appointment for an admissions interview.

Getting started is easy, fun and well worth it. As a member of the first class of the former Body Therapy Institute, I can wholeheartedly join our thousands of grads in saying "attending BTI changed my life.", and the many who have shared " attending BTI is one of is one of the best things I've ever done."

Peace and Ease be With You,

Katie Mickey,
Director of the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute

What's possible with self employment:
Working from home and artistic pursuit
"Doing massage has changed and altered my life. I am so grateful for the massage work that I do. I can't imagine receiving a more enriching training than what I received from BTI. It really impacted me and who I am in the world. Massage allowed me the flexibility to work from my home, be with my family and  pursue my art. I am so grateful!" Laurie Pegg Scott, SBBTI grad, Massage Practitioner for 20 years, currently 64 years old

What's possible with family health challenges:
Father transforming his son's life long asthma
"I have been working on my son's feet every night since I took my first Reflexology class. My son has been an asthmatic since birth. For the last seven years he has had to use an inhaler regularly, often daily to manage his asthma. The points on his feet related to the Esophagus and Lungs were really congested and tender when I began working on him. About the first 5 times he hardly let me touch him. Just gradually over the first few weeks they became less sensitive. Now, five weeks later, I can apply a strong pressure with little reaction. His need for his inhaler diminished as he received the work. He hasn't used it at all in the last two weeks with easeful breathing and very few asthmatic symptoms" Paul Zegala, SBBTI student, Massage Practitioner Program

What's possible with spa employment: Consistent work and scholarship benefits!

"I very much enjoy the support, encouragement, professional growth and ethics that Massage Envy helps promote in their therapists.  Working for Massage

Envy, I have the convenience of a set schedule around my children's needs. I have regular booked clients, all supplies provided and time off when I am with my family. The Staff at Massage Envy are very friendly and supportive. I have benefited from their scholarship program which has given me the opportunity to continue growing as a therapist. This level of support makes it so much easier to focus with clients and to grow as a therapist.

I graduated from SBBTI in 1998, At the time I was running a preschool. I started out offering massage to my childcare community. I gave massage to my preschool parents to help them ground and nurture themselves so that they could also nurture their children. From that initial outreach, I built a part time practice for 13 years. I've been with Massage Envy the last year and a half. Massage is my main income now in support of my three children.

The affordability and incentives makes regular bodywork possible for Massage Envy clients. The real commitment that Massage Envy promotes to their members to receive regular sessions- increases their level of health and well- being. That is what is important to me, to see my clients get regular bodywork because they can afford it, rather than an occasional session at a high end spa. Whether I am seeing established clients or new member clients, I enjoy facilitating their pathway of healing. " Carolyn Haolmi, SBBTI grad and Massage Practitioner
